Hi guys

I was wondering if anyone would be kind enough to inform me of what the correct tyres are for my 1995 Ghibli 2.0 ABS.

I would like to know the correct brand, model and size that was fitted to my car back in 1995.

I tend to prefer to install the correct original tyres on my cars if possible, do you guys think this is correct or do you think it better to install a modern tyre rather than the factory fitted model ?

Thanks in advance.

I'd be quite surprised if the originals were still made, in honesty. I know, for example, that you can't get the tyres that our Sprint had.

Vintage Tyres do a good range of retro tyres from the 50's up to the late 1990's.. all top quality from Michelin and Pirelli..

Take a look on there website

I seem the remember that the original on a '95 ABS, or at least that Meridien used to fit, were Michelin MX (3?) or something. It may sound like I don't really want to remember the name and you'd be right, they were known as ditch-finders - at least in my family! The slightest sight of a damp road and the car was practically lethal!
Modern tyres make a big difference and I would not be looking for the originals.

There all modern compounds Rich, they look like the originals too...and as everyone knows originality is everything when it comes to expensive old cars!

It's a ghibli II, not a ghibli I, so I think there is no reason to not use a modern tire.

Dimensions are 205/45 ZR 16 (Front) and 225/45 ZR 16 (Rear), except if your cas is upgraded with the later 17" rims. In this case, the correct mount is 215/45 ZR 17 (Front); 245/40 ZR 17 (Rear).

About the brand they used in 1995, I've no idea, but my cup was delivered with michelin pilot.

Thanks everyone for your help.

I've been told some other conflicting information which states that the sizes for my car are 205/50/16 and 225/50/16 so am more than a little confused as what to do.

According to the handbook, both 205/45/16 and 205/50/16 are okay for the front, with 225/45/16 being correct for the rear. The brand mentioned is Michelin, but it doesn't say the model. But I seem to remember using Michelin Pilot Sport.

For the ABS, the handbook says you can use 225/45/16 or 225/50/16 for the rear I believe. Strange but true.

Thank you everyone for all your help.

I finally managed to dig out my manual and would you believe it gives three options for tyres :

1) front: 205/45 ZR 16 2) front: 205/50 ZR 16 3) front: 205/50 ZR 16
rear: 225/45 ZR 16 rear: 225/45 ZR 16 rear: 225/50 ZR 16

No wonder I was getting conflicting advice on sizes.
