Apparently the 3.0 diesel is the one to go for in the Macan range but obviously 2nd hand
The thought of having a diesel in a Q5 .. sorry Porsche Macan doesn't sit right with me lol

I was very impressed with the build quality of the interior of the macan I sat in, 94k on the clock, looked new.

I doubt the Merc will hold up aswell.

@outrun had a cracking Macan, cost him peanuts and likely lost nothing during his ownership, which would have offset fuel costs. He may have some hints and tips.
They have their problems, but good cars from what I can see in general.

Main advice I've had is to buy from a Porsche main dealer and NEVER have one outside of warranty (15 years 125k miles with porsche extended).

After yesterday though, I can't get the C63 out of my head lol

The joys of being a petrolhead.

Yup, as Mr Crud says, I had a mega high spec Macan for about 3 years. Macan S diesel with £35k of options because the first owner had more money than sense but that was nice for me!!

We bought from a Porsche main dealer, serviced it through then and kept in inside warranty. The only issue was a failed abs sensor which put it into limp mode and Porsche replaced all 4 under warranty.

I liked it but didn't love it. You can tell it's the top end VW group model and that it's a Q5/Touran etc under the surface but with nicer interior, better suspension etc. Not exciting to drive, super competant, well made.

We bought at 36k and I think I sold for 28k, maybe 27k. So not expensive really compared to many others.

Is it my imagination of are asking prices for Coupes going up? There seem very few sub £10,000 cars on the market and more £15,000. Could this be related to there now being lots of YouTube videos where the reviewer dispels the old, negative reviews of the Cambiocorsa gearbox and are much more positive about the car than the contemporaneous reports were?

Market is still depressed... I suspect the very cheap ones have just come off the market.
You only have to watch the various auction prices to realise that in general anything over 2 litres is trending at not reaching around 25% of their perceived value , they are hence given the option to further negotiate with the seller. What will kickstart an increase in values is when the government defers the Ice cut off point again from 2035 to 2040

Why would a deferral of the cut off for the sale of new ICE vehicles make a difference to the value of the second hand ICE market? Second hand ICE vehicles can still be owned, bought and sold even after the ban.

People are becoming increasingly wary of the pending Ice ban and the whole Net zero thing and all the pending burdens that will eventually result in higher taxes and even the possibility of pay per mile for the more polluting engines , Its the not knowing of the time limits which I believe has caused the market blip , we are all hoping the further the Ban is kicked down the road as the EV infrastructure is quite plainly not achievable within the present time limit ........by which time the differentials between the ICE and EV market will be even more apparent as the data becomes clearer. Certainly EV's have a place but along side ICE and the sooner the governments realise that the two have to coexist and the signals sent out to industry will things revert back to some kind of normality. IMHO that is

I think the values of classic / collectors cars have been pushed up and held up by people moving towards and into retirement, who now have the wealth to bid up the price of that "Ford Capri" they lusted after in their youth but couldn't afford back in the day! As cars become more vintage they fall outside of this hot zone of interest and values decline. On this basis, once the current generation of collectors have expired - ie us lot! - it seems reasonable to conclude that they'll be little interest from the future generation of collectors in acquiring a V8 Maserati GT or similar. Particularly by those who have moved straight into hybrid / EV technology. Sadly, they'll never know the thrill of a V8 ICE in full song. I expect values of these vehicles to decline significantly as they reach a more classic status. (Perhaps this is starting to happen already?). However, if the ICE cut off does get deferred then there's a chance of offsetting this inevitable trend ...

Likewise the vintage market has seen a cataclysmic drop in recent years, and your right it will eventually come our way without doubt ,
