Cracked front grill

See this pic below. Number 3 on the list to the left shows as Complete Front Grill and relates to number 3 on the pic, yet shows as unavailable, yet there is number 13 which is the Kit Grills for Front Bumper however there is no number 13 on the diagram, yet it does give a price for this?

I'm guessing number 3 would be the grill plus trident badge whereby the kit grills is just the full grill bit (to include the chrome strip that surrounds it) ??

You know what I've looked at that diagram about 10 times and missed the number 13 every time

None of the websites give me a price for the compete front grill

Thanks for the head up Safrane, may come back to you on this later.

Conaero picture is in the first page, the crack is on the surround of the vertical teeth if you like but from what I can gather online the whole unit comes as one piece? what is it exactly you have? I've posted a drawing on the first page also

Cheers

Just glue it up, nobody will notice.

1) Been quoted £755 + VAT for front bumper re-spray, this isn't from Maserati but an indi body shop who do the high end cars. Anyone any thoughts on that price?
Ask Dicky Grace where he gets resprays done. Mine needed the front bumper resprayed before he sold it for me and I'm sure it was less than that.

front grill is easy to get off – you don't even need to remove the bumper. it's about 10 or so screws accessible from the front.

you are correct, it's part #3 (grill and trident) and there are a bunch on eBay used or you could buy new. given the minimal damage on yours (and especially if you still have the missing piece) you'd probably be able to sell yours for almost the same price.

in any case, the grill and paint can be dealt with separately. removing and reinstalling the grill is about a 5 minute task, so you can just do it again if you paint another day.

Assuming the screws are not corroded, it's a pig to get the actual chrome surrounds off, at least on a 3200 it is!

Well, I just reinstalled mine and checked. 14 screws, but over half are under the flexible rubber trim which may or may not be accessible without loosening the bumper.

Was just about to ask if the 'air conveyer' can be changed also without taking off the bumper but sounds like both require some degree of bumper removal ?

I'm waiting on JCT Leeds getting a quote to me

Nope, bumper definitely has to come off for the conveyor. It's a pain – as far as we can figure out, you have to remove the carpet wheelhouses enough to detach the 3 headlight bolts, pull the lights into the wheelwell enough to remove the two bolts on each side holding the top inner "wings" of the bumper to the fender, the two bolts on each side of the bumper to the fender, two large bolts under the bumper to the frame, 10-ish screws connecting to the skid plate, then the front engine beauty cover, then 10-ish screws on the top of the bumper.

Inside, you may or may not have to disconnect the parking sensors, fog light connectors, and headlight washer supply line depending on how far from the car you need to pull the bumper.

You can always see for the grill if you can get to all 14 screws by pulling back the rubber trim for each. At the very least, just undoing the bottom screws of the bumper will let you pull the bottom forward far enough to get them – it only needs to move an inch or so if at all.

This is turning out to be a big, big job for what looked like a relatively small problem - it's never easy, is it?!

Finally getting somewhere with this.

So I have a choice for the front grill, stick with my original which is black with a chrome thin strip around the edge OR go all chrome which from ebay searches is basically everthing you see (the edge, slats etc) all being chrome.

No pics of the chrome grill on a car sorry but any thoughts on this?
