Cruise control on a GTS

Anyone worked it out?

On the Ghibli when you brake and it turns off and then turn it back on it sets it at the speed at which you are travelling which seems sensible.

On the Granturismo it set it at some weird unknown speed which is always a lot slower than the speed you are travelling at and you have to twiddle the knob to get it back to the speed you want.

Or is it just me??

Might just be you! :jptongue:
the push button on the end of the stalk is resume, that gets you back to where you were before (unless your GTS is having an italian electron moment!) the paddle on the stalk is the set higher/lower etc

Sets at current speed. Braking switches it off. Resume button goes back to previously set speed.

Really don't think that is happening.

I am driving. I hit the button - take my foot off the accelerator and the car slows rapidly. I have to rotate the knob to get back to the speed I am at.

When I hit resume it resumes at some unknown speed.

I'll have to test it again and maybe take it in if it is still not right.

Hoyin - not just you.

On mine, when I set the cruise control I have to twist the paddle on the stalk once or twice to get the set speed equals to the speed I'm travelling at... If I don't do this then as you say the car slows down of its own accord...

Yes it sets lower and needs a few twists (1mph increments) to get it exactly what it should have been etc but the RES button on the end of the stalk takes you back up to what you were at before it was interrupted etc.. Maserati is one of the only Cruise control systems I have used where if you set it on in say 6th gear and down change it will keep the speed in that 5th gear. Most other manufacturers will cancel on gear change, clutch dip or brake etc...

You don't set it with the button - you need to turn the section on the stalk to set the speed which should be the speed you are travelling at the time. If you brake it turns off (and that's the only way to turn it off) then press the button on the end to resume at the previously set speed.

This is it. Hoyin, you're doing it wrong mate. Ditto, I suspect Jon

Set with the twist on the stalk, and then the resume will go back to that speed.

I'm trying to work out how you are trying to use cruise control in London,
Surely the distance between staring - slowing - stopping is about 5 yards, and then go again!!!!

Probably totally different to the 4200/GS but on these you first turn the system on then set the speed.

Cheers - this explains what I was experiencing, and I now know what that push bottom on the end of the stalk does...!

On a similar but unrelated note, has anyone on here managed to get their headlights to stay on for a bit after they turn the ignition off. From reading the manual I think my car should have this option fitted, but I'm really struggling to understand how to get it to work... (and have been pressing the Resume button trying to activate it)

Yes, just push the headlamp stalk to flash after you've turned off. Each time you do it you'll get 30 seconds of (additional) light. Or if you hold it for 2 seconds it deactivates.

That's what it says in the manual as well. Having just read it again, and having thought about it in terms of not pressing the Resume button, does "push" the headlamp stalk mean press away from you towards the front of the car, or push at right angles towards the steering wheel (Resume button)...

Push, pull or press...I think the first as if you were using the high beams...same goes for most cars now.

Press towards the front of the car if memory serves. Certainly not towards the wheel (i.e. radially)
