Curbing Wheels

Is there anything more frustrating than curbing your wheels, especially when they're on a car you take every effort to keep pristine.

Gutter rash on my back rear left today.

Refurb for both LHR and LHF for me then.

There goes more money. Awesome.

Know the feeling. Had my QP only few weeks before curbing them, full front face refurb is about £60 a wheel and looks perfect again!

I am in paranoid mode, having just refurbished mine......

Me too, although the recovery from Le Mans damaged one slightly, annoyingly not enough for a refurb but every now and again it catches my attention :(

The guy I purchased from scratched the front wheel when delivering it....... I was gutted and mad as **** at the same time...
As I had also hit him ******* the price negotiations I decided to swallow it...

Haven't curbed any of my wheels for years. Then got a new shape XJ last year...kerbed 3 in the first 3 months. Boy it is a long car with long wheelbase! Drives much smaller so you think.....then....scrape....no its definitely long!! Light than the smaller XF so drives really well...just expect kerbed wheels ;)

When I bought my Alfa GT the jet fins were badly curbed, so I haven't done anything about it.
But now I've got most of the car sorted, they're annoying me badly.
Fortunately I've a mate who refurbs alloys who'll do them at mates rates. So hopefully I'll get them done before Auto Italia.

Oh I feel your pain!
I curbed three of my wheels over a couple of months and used this: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Alloy-Wheel-Repair-Planet-Polish/dp/B0036IQOXU as I could not spare the £150 and time to get them fixed. I thought they would look rubbish as I am generally pretty bad at any precision DIY stuff, but I have to say it looks just fine on 2 of them from about 2m. It looks pretty bad on one but that is because I discovered the wheel had a shadow style finish on it which I had not noticed, but still much better than before.
Sure it is not a professional finish and I will get them done properly at some time, but if time or cash is tight, this kit is well worth it. Surprisingly.

I know your pain!
Had four wheels done properly on the 3200, dipped then powdercoated and sprayed authentic Grigio Mercury. Lasted a few months until I moved to busy London street and had to parallel park against huge granite kerbs. Bought decent filler and paints to do it myself. Looks okay from a distance, but up close......
Tested the colour on my silver 20" QP wheels, which I love so not a total waste of time and money.
Will stick to prper refirb in future.

Refurb became a ritual living in Hampstead. Narrow streets and high, uneven curbs means it's a lottery every time you park. Gave me a chance to experiment with colour though.
