Hi gents, an across the board opinion required here, if you were to choose a Masser as a daily driver, what would it be? Obviously personal experience is going to factor heavily in this and that's good. So, QP, Ghibli, GT, GS, 4200, 3200 ?(although I suspect not lol) ,The list goes on, look forward to your thoughts.

QP5 DS, good car, comfy, mpg not too bad for a huge fast car, still a proper sports car, buy for the price of Euro-econobox, worth buttons after a few years/miles but might become a classic, use it till it owes you nowt, only issue is clutch wear, budget £3200 or so every 25/40k, what's not to like?

Gran Tourismo.

C

I see what you did there

The big Maserati's are similar dimensions to my Mustang , I wouldn't want this as a daily driver,it's huge, would you be happy parking your Maserati in the only available space in the car park to come back and find a crease in the door or a scrape on the bumper.

Then there's the practicalities of in effect running a supercar as a daily, the Mustang is affordable, £650 for a 3 service package at a ford main dealer , 22mpg, 30 on the motorway, what's a Maserati 15mpg , £600-800 a service at an independent , double that at a main dealer.

But practicalities aside , Granturismo

My Granturismo S MC was bought as my daily driver, to replace an E46 M3.

I don't have to do much urban driving (thankfully), but the only annoyance is when you're stop/start in carparks looking for a space. On those occasions an auto would be better.

If you're doing high miles and/or urban driving then I can see the appeal of the auto box, but all considered I'm pretty happy with the GTS with MC Shift.

I'm fortunate to have 5 cars to choose from, but the GTS is my most sensible car, seats 4 comfortably, decent enough boot, very comfortable and quiet when not in sport.

I think once you put aside the low mileage mentality, they respond very well to regular usage.

The fuel consumption is what it is. If you can't live with about 17mpg, then it's not the car for you.

As a daily, the black with cream 2007 4.2 auto GT from Shiltech at £22k has to be a bargain.

It all depends on how many miles you do and what sort of miles...Motorway, back roads. Surely a New shape Ghibli is the better daily drive car as that is what Maserati had in mind when they made it. I used a 3200 for a daily drive for 1.5 years and it was never an issue but it was back in 2007 and. Only did around 5k a year max. Suppose you can use any as a daily drive as I always think they perform better for it for me it would just be the running costs...fuel, service etc that would be the deciding factor. Either way I think every day use is good for any car and they will probably be more reliable for all.

A GT is about late 20s to but so could drop a bit used as a daily
Id get a QP for about 12k and enjoy it as that wont drop far more

Ghibli or a QP6. Petrol one, the diesel isn't anywhere near as good and diesel is so 2014. If money was no object, I'd prefer to use a full ZF auto QPV but as the running costs will be considerably higher, that's why the newer cars have to get my shout. The Ghibli, in particular, is much better than some on here like to give it credit for.

I wouldn't go near an early QPV unless the history was impeccable and the sub frames had been inspected etc. Got offered one for £7k very recently with a modest 80k miles. Not the bargain it might seem as at least that spend again to put it right.

Just had a look at Roberts old qp in strastone. They give a three month warranty. Obviously it's very nice. On balance it's too soon for me as prefer to buy car outright( with tax bill to pay) and the interior is too light for daily duties with child and dog.
Also wish they did the 4.7 with MC shift but hey ho
**** close though....
Appears to have no faults, tiny imperfections on bonnet that they are sorting

As an aside strastone Aston Martin seem a good bunch, as mentioned elsewhere nice they sell some of their old stuff, the sales guy admitted they get stung on bits for the old stuff under warranty
