I've been seriously tempted to equip my van with all round cameras to try it out as I do around 30k a year and I'm far more likely to be down around the legal speed in that one! I think they could be double edged in that they could incriminate you as much as vilify your position....
I thnk you're right the Go Pro is a little more than I'm after but thanks for the pointer and it is really a dedicated system that I'm after.
Found these guys who have a few systems from £45 to £90. http://www.carcamwarehouse.com/ . Apperently Adrian Flux are offering 15% off of car insurance if the top model is installed.
Isn't the big advantage of the GoPro the weatherproof casing so you can attach externally. The ones from carcam warehouse look like they could only be used inside the car but maybe someone can clarify as there is add cent price difference.
GoPro 3 in the uk is about £360 & comes with nothing of note (SDHC card £20, helmet mount £15, car suction £30, roll bar mount £20, new laptop to handle HD £600) but the quality if outstanding & of 'broadcast' standard. I'm a big fan but there's no point in spending that sort of cash if you don't need to also use it for extreme sports! The dashcam option does look good enough to buy one up front & out back (noting the braking power of most modern masers!)
The other col feAture of the GP3 is that it can be controlled by your iPhone & used as a view finder - it's great if your also making a film for your wedding!!

I lOve that idea Ren!! No video though?! How did you mount it?! Tripod mount onto a homEmade fixing?! That's the other significant advantage - weight!!
