Does anyone know the in's and out's of law regarding my employer sharing personal information with customers. I have been asked to sign a form and I'm not completely at ease with the wording and tone of the document.

Anyone had a similar experience or can help me with this?

We do DP for both the company and our customer data so are probably quite well positioned to advise, if you want an opinion.....

The current, and new, rules are based on EU wide legislation. So if you give it a couple of years the Tories will repeal anything that stops companies from being able to monetise the information that they have about you. Don't want to stand in the way of business after all ;)
