Decided to trade in my 2008 4.2 GT for this 2012 4.7 GT

Very nice, very similar to my car! Yes skyhook is standard on the 4.7 auto but you could delete it for the fixed rate set up that is standard on the 4.7 MC.

Extra wise looks like metallic, wheel upgrade, seat crests, front PTS, comfort pack and BOSE. It's a 2012MY too which is quite rare - they have a different seat pattern to those that went before.

Hope you enjoy it. I lived down the road from you years back when I had my 3200 - good memories.

Thanks Bob, I actually prefer the body shape that doesn't have the small winglets under the doors. But otherwise, it looks like a good buy. I am really looking forward to seeing/feeling the difference between my 4.2 and this 4.7

Good colour choice...but then I would say that, having a 2014 in exactly the same combination. Very classy!

Made the same change myself a few years ago .. though mines a late 2012 Sport Auto with the facelift nose and redesigned front seats, and a little extra bhp... Again similar colour scheme - Blu Oceano / Sabbia. Still love it..

I noticed fairly minor improvements over the 4.2... but in just about every area..and for me seemed to change the character of the car into a far more capable beast..Noticed immediately its far more responsive and feels like it's wearing hiking boots rather than loafers.... Goes better, stops better and feels planted all the time..

It's probably been covered - but on mine the Sport button opens the valves over 3000 revs - but if you then flip it onto paddle control the valves are open all the time..

And I'm pretty sure Skyhook was still an optional extra.. It's not on mine and I can't see anyone "un - speccing" it.. though I think some prefer the fixed floor shocks.

Pressing the Sport button makes it louder at idle as well but then it gets louder still at 3000rpm in auto. In manual, it's at its loudest all the time. It's like it has three stage valves.

I may be wrong but I thought that Skyhook was the two stage shock setting so that it firms up the suspension in Sport. Happy to be corrected! If that's not the case then mine doesn't have it either I don't think.

On mine, the valves open on start up from cold anyway .. only to close themselves after a minute or two.

The sport button, kicks the gear down appropriately in auto and the throttle response is quicker. The suspension is much firmer too, and very noticeable over bumps. But unless you are over 3000 revs the valves aren't opened up. - They do, immediately regardless of revs when it's manual shifting.

They all have the 2 settings for the suspension sport-(firm) and normal - (Comfy)... But I think the Skyhook system constantly alters the suspension response in either setting... dependent on sensor information for speed etc..

Thats just my understanding - and may not be fact ... someone learned will be along shortly no doubt to correct me ,,
