Digital upgrades

I actually ended up buying the headunit and separate heating controls a while ago - it is a straightforward installation process (plug and play), retains all the setting controls as OEM and easy to swap back to OEM unit.

Overall I am very happy with the product. I got the v2.1 headunit and the gen 3 AC controls.

The 2.1 headunit had a large number of improvements and the gen 3 unit solved the battery disconnect/reset issue.

I think it looks great and is super easy to use. My phone auto starts a hotspot when the unit turns on (bluetooth) and I have google maps, DAB unit, internet radio, podcasts.

I'm sure the pureists (Mr Grace) will not approve, but it really improved my overall enjoyment of ownership.

As a side note, I would avoid large "tesla" screens as they run android apps, which are normally not optimised for that screen sizing. The screen size i have is like a compact tablet, so actually works quite well.

I have to say I probably would if I was back in a GT (might even upgrade the Ghibli's) for the functionality, but I absolutely find touchscreens while driving a PITA

At least with this set up, the AC is always easy to get to (pressing up/down), rather than in a tesla where you have to select go into AC control from the home screen.

The google voice assistant is decent, you can just give it the "ok google - navigate me to ___"

Once the system is set-up, it is easy to use. On any system you shouldnt be tinkering with settings when driving whether touchscreen or button control.

I have all three upgrades (Temp, Radio, and dashboard).

Mostly a great upgrade but definitely a few negatives.

My biggest negative is on the new dashboard head unit the tire (tyre for you chaps) air pressure is under far too many levels of sub menus to get to.....pain in the butt vs. the old analog Mode: + three times which was very easy to do whilst driving.

Oh, and if you get the radio head unit Don't set a password on the info unit touch screen you will regret it!

The dashboard did not really appeal to me - I like the simplicity of the OEM unit in that regard.

I guess with the radio unit, it took a bit of fiddling to get it set up exactly how i wanted it, but after the initial customising, I have not touched it (a good sign!)

As one who just has the heating and ventilation in all my cars set at 20* and Auto I really can't see the point unless you sit in the car looking at the interior all day.

Just more stuff to go faulty, esp with Italian electronics as the supply system.

I do like the more modern and fresh look of these upgrades but think the large screen version looks silly/ odd.

I have mine set to 18* and do not touch it - I thought the OEM radio/AC unit looked very dated (by a good decade) compared to the rest of the car and of course you see it whenever you are in the car...

Oh agreed, but there are things that you will be changing. Temperature might be one (yes I know it shouldn't be but sometimes the A/C isn't quite as smart as it could be) Heated seats, radio presets, music selection, sat nav when you hit a roadblock (although Waze is not so bad at that)

Fortunately there are steering wheel controls for many of these things, and I am aware that there are many people that would cheerfully castigate anyone that wanted to change music while driving.

Aware of lots of comments re touch screens and all the menus to do basic things and thus ending up in a ditch/hedge etc, esp in modern cars

Am I spoilt in my daily with having voice control for most functions, like heating, phone, nav, radio, music, text, seat and steering heating, recirculated air flow???

There is voice control in mine, but I confess I've not got so far as to try it out much. Mined ewe there is voice control in the GT.....
