My clutch problems may include an issue with the slave cylinder. I ahve a feeling this is a £30 part from somewhere, does anyone know what vehicle it might be from?

Yes you can get it from another car! It is the same Sachs cylinder as used in a VW caddy! The only difference being the push rod which is easily changed! The part is £24.99 if I remember correctly!
If you give Me or Geoff a call @ Shiltech tomorrow I'm sure I could dig the part number out for you!
It is a right fiddly pig to change though! :-(

Hope this helps.

If it is part nr 51, then it is a 325 pound part incl VAT:

(51) That's the master cyl. There is no justification of that price. I am trying to work out either what car it is from or where to get a seal kit.

Slave is on the side of the gearbox (29) in the pic below:

There was a post on another forum on 11/10/2008 that said a clutch slave is the same dimensions as a Land Rover, but which model it did not say.

Did anyone get a definitive answer on this? I recently got my clutch replaced and got a warning that the slave is on its last legs, I said change it but they said the part is no longer available at Maranello. It looks like the VW caddy is the correct part but the ebay link seems to be for a newer MY, so are we just looking at the VW Caddy slave cylinder fitted between 1999 & 2002?

Hi Matt

do you happen to know if this is the same slave used in an 06 Coupe GT 4200 ? looks similar but then looks can be very deceiving

Looks like a right sod to fit , this something Shiltech would tackle ?

Just resurrecting this thread - my clutch slave cylinder is weeping and I'm struggling to source replacement via normal Maserati sources.

There seems to be a suggestion that a VW Caddy cylinder might be an alternative but has anyone actually pursued this route - ie which part number or more info on Caddy ( ie year etc).

Phil's Part number from Sachs is for Friction plate not the clutch slave cylinder unit that is located next to the box.

On the basis that there arent any replacement clutch slave cylinders available any more can anyone suggest a compamy that I could approach about getting new seals and or refurbishing my existing cylinder? Still not sure who manufacturers original cylinder (is it Sachs?)

Check out the back of a Classic car magazine and get it resleeved and sealed job done.
Change the fluid annually and it will never fail Steve.
