Doing it properly this time.

Evening folks.

I was on the forum briefly at the end of last year with a purchase of 2009 GTS which, on inspection by SportsItalia, turned out to be not quite as good as it was made out to be. I didn't do a PPI, didn't really know what I was doing TBH. I didn't comment at the time but happily was able to return the car and my money returned so a big thank you to Matt for all the help and advise at the time.

Time to try again. This car is ticking all my boxes (other than being a 4.2 but I'm looking for a road trip cruiser so the lack of power vs 4.7 and noise are lower on my nice to haves vs the colour, interior, gearbox of this car). There aren't any other differences 4.2 vs 4.7 are there, couldn't see much mentioned online?

Anyone know this car? The car is in Milton Keynes, any recommendations for who could do a PPI please? How do you use that PPI? Let's assume it needs variator modification and corrosion protection at the very least. Offer asking price minus the cost of those?

Ta.

MOT history is just tyres and coil springs.
Possibly wants front tyres now and definitely a proper inspection of the front subframe.
The engine needs listening too from stone cold start up to listen for variator chain and solenoids.
Good Luck.

Yeah, saw that one. It's the colourway of the Milton Keynes car though, definitely not to everyone's taste but I really love it.

You have to have what you want that's for sure.
I'm a blue and beige chap and have been to the Supercar Rooms and nice people.

I went to the UK launch of the GranTurismo, near Victoria, London. That car was this spec, silver with red, and looked fabulous. Not easy to find cars like this now, and with low miles. Good luck with PPI.

Beautiful car, but can’t get over that they still publish ads in full caps. That’s my Monday morning pedantics out of the way..

o_O o_O Or MarkMas! And somehow they managed to include one small caps word in all of that. It’s just unreadable in IMO. So much for marketing skills…

Probably the best £240 (£200+vat) you can spend on one of these cars.

As for your choice, if you like Silver with the red interior, then go with it. As far as I know, the difference between the 4.2 and 4.7 is the extra power from the extra half litre. Chassis and equipment is largely the same., However, between years, there were subtle differences till the refresh in MY2013 and again in 2018.

Thanks everyone. Got a couple of PPI options now. What do you reckon on the price? Have GT prices increased as much as everything else. Is this massively over the odds? Another option was a late model Jag XKR and they are fetching £40k+ which is nuts.

Totally different cars really.
Do like the Jaguar XKR and they were ridiculously cheap back in the first lockdown.
Having had two Maserati there's just something so Special about them and every enthusiast should experience it.
I love Jaguar's and have had several in 43 years of driving.

I sold my identical spec/age/colour/mileage 4,2 last October for 26k if it helps. I had it from almost new. Things that should have been done over the years are front springs, front suspension bushes, discs, variator mod, tpms sensors .If they have not been done these are very expensive to do. Also these early cars suffered terribly from peeling leather/plastic on the interior, espescailly centre console. As mentioned check front subframe. This does though look a very nice one. The chap who bought mine just drove it, made an offer and drove away with it, no ppi!!! Brave man.

That's really helpful. Thanks.

Well that car was disappointingly and predictably a disappointment. Paint all looked very nice but that was about it, interior not awful but various rips, nicks and leather completely missing from the light switch panel & no invoices for any of the work you'd imagine would now be due.
