Dreaded Engine & Gearbox light

Fitted my larini back boxes earlier, all OK, but after about a mile driving the gearbox light cam on, and i was unable to change gear. Pulled over, turned the engine off, then it would not start. Flashing red gearbox light, and orange engine management light.
Turned off at isolator switch, left for 5 mins, switched back on no change. The bypassed dbw module in case that was causing issue, and again no change.

Thought oh bo$$ox, so on phone to dealer, when explaining fault turned key, and hay presto everything now OK.

Any thoughts ?

typical with track day only a few days away.

could be classed as the clutch light. its a red box with a stick coming out the top.

I had one the day I had my Larinis fitted, the car drove ok, got the light cleared and it comes back about once a year.

Live with it for a bit and see what happens.

Wonder whether the Lambda's got a fright with the new back-boxes and threw you into limp mode?

Not sure about this, the ECUs are self-learning...
I could understand it more if sports cats had been fitted,
when the lambdas are re-connected and the car is fired up for the first time, it will probably run a little rough for a few minutes,
just till it re-learns (I was told that my car would be left to idle for 10 minutes at this stage), then it's back to normal...
but with just back-boxes being fitted, I think maybe it is just a coincidence...keep an eye out.

I always associate the failure to get into gear with an actuator problem, however when I had a new actuator & lambda sensor fitted by graypauls I had problems getting gears on a couple of occasions the next day, then it just went away.

thanks guys, will keep an eye on it. just taken the bypass back out of the dbw module and have a100 mile trip tomorrow to check it out. Could have just been a coincidence,

I think the engine management light is staying on until i start the car now though, does this need to be cleared, and if so is it a dealer job, or can a anyone garage with the diags kit do it ?

The check engine light can be removed with any EOBD diagnostic device...I can bring mine to the track day at Llandow if you like?

well its done it again, just had to leave the car in a lay-by in town as i gave it 20/30 mins or so, but still getting transmission error indicator so will not start. I am hoping that if i go back later it will start, but in the eman time, anyone know of a good indy around bristol that might have a chance at diagnosing the issue ? I guess they would need the SD3 diags.

strange how it did it last tues, been ok since, including the track day.

anyone used Bob Houghton in Gloucestershire ? that could be my nearest non dealer

Harry Metcalfe from Evo magazine uses him to get his Ferrari 330 serviced, he said he was pleased with their work and always uses them to service his 330.

Steve,

I have used them when too busy to get to Emblem as they also have a covered truck which is free for a service...smaller work cost me about £100 for collection/delivery

thats good to know

just been into town, car started again no problem. so something intermittent i guess. I have unplugged my dbw module again, so will run for a week or so without see if it reoccurs i guess. Just a bit worrying as never quite sure here i could get stuck.

is the F1 relay only switched on and off with the ignition, as i dont remember hearing the pump yesterday when the car would not start, and if so whats the chances of the relay playing up when driving. Just wondering if this could be my issue, maybe starting to break down a bit
