The police treat all nonstandard plates as NO plate therefore the fine should be the same. Small, incorrect script, no postcode, damaged and unreadable and poorly spaced.
My goodness, if the police were to spend their time clamping down to this level of 'crime' I feel we are being short-changed.
I would far rather they were to stop and prosecute drivers committing driving offences which have genuine safety implications - don't know about you but when walking the dog (literally I mean), I watch drivers coming towards me and around 1 in every 5 van or lorry drivers are on their mobile phones, and then along come the young women, eyes glued to the latest gossip on FB on their smart phones hidden on their laps.
I do not wish this to be 'genderist' or 'classist' ot any other' ist' but I have real concerns that dangerous driving issues are perhaps too much for police to deal with adequately and the thought that the odd designer plate is punished is something of an anathema.
Funny too that the only police I have ever dealt with were those who stopped me in 2011 for speeding and I have no issues with that - they were doing their job and doing it well. I deserved what I got!
