EBC Yellowstuff versus Redstuff pads

So my pads need changing and I'm loathe to fork out over £1K for oem pads but am willing to try EBC ones. As far as I'm aware Yellow are more track orientated but Red are more suitable for street. I have no intention of taking the GTS on atrack anytime soon so would it be betetr to stick to Red? I know owners of GTs have said that Yellowstuff are great but the ones I need are for daily driving.

When I change mine I'll be going for the yellows. Apparently they're great, and that would be for road use in general as well. I've pushed a few people who swear by them on their safety and have no horror stories for yellow, but good reports enough to make me think they're worth going for (in spite of what I say below). You'll just need to put a little heat into them when you go for a drive. I've found the a light left-foot braking whilst trundling along and out of my road is a good way to do this.

Redstuff on the other hand...
1) Interesting compound and grips like a baby koala to its mother, whilst feeling really rather soft and long under the foot.
2) It produces a strange dust that can actually cure to your alloys, making them bubble in such a way you can't restore them properly.
3) The friction compound has a propensity to suddenly delaminate from the carrier. I had this happen in my Saab coming into a corner very calmly but then needed towing home as I no longer had a working brake on the front left wheel. I also have reports from a friend who had the same thing happen with his redstuff on track - rather more scary than my incident!

I hope that helps!

Most people rate Yellow, and I've run them on the 4200 to great effect.

I've got some Formula Dynamics carbon kevlar to be fitted next month.

No expert by any means but very happy with yellows and forum discs. Dusty, but a good reason to OCD clean the car!

Right..thanks chaps. Looks like it will be Yellow stuff for me. Will just have to get into the habit of warming them up. I do like the sound of the FD kevlar ones but they cost a lot more. Think I will let Catman be a guinea pig and see what he thinks of them for next time.

had standard, green grippers, ferodo, EBC yellow, EBC redstuff
Gone back to EBC redstuff, only because the yellowstuff really does get caked on the wheels. Also no need to pre-warm modern yellowstuff. Unless you drive hard standard compound are just fine.
Only my experience, on both 3200 & QP

Looks like Yellowstuff are the forum choice but has anyone had any experience of Pagid? I've been advised to fit these, main drives involve mountain roads so brakes do get a battering on occasion.

Have a look at the Ferodo DS2500 pads. I have run yellow stuff for past 3 years and never really been 100% happy. Going to give the Ferodo pads ago as have heard excellent reports. Ordered of all places Amazon £130 F&R delivered.

Also read good reports on the Ferodo so will give them a try next, nothing to lose at half the price. Will try the Pagid when I next change the discs to get a true feel for them.

We had them recommended to us as well
Not tried them, however

So I was all set to go with EBC yellow when the time comes, but now it seems that Ferodo are the way to go. The fact that the OEM are so expensive makes life really difficult!

I haven't used them on the GT yet, but had Pagid on my AMV8V (similar ish weight) and they were brilliant. Also use them on the RS4 and 7.

When the time comes I'll be using them on the GT.

I'm interested in the Pagids...where's the best place to get them from?
