Greg ive been here and posting here helps - I sure you will be back in her soon.

not sure if even going back to the garage who may have caused the issue is a starting point, but for me I didn't trust the so called specialyst so took her to Emblem and finally Ftech who fixed my car. ecu is around £2k and as others suggested start in the area were the guys have been working (wiring near gearbox)

I had my ecu temporary swapped from another car to test, if you have same issue at least you know its not that.

either of these guys will at least be able to do this and go over the car to test the systems.

just noticed your location, not sure of any i would trust doing diags up north, i know its a long way but the drive home will be fantastic

I wish i could help, if you need any assistance please let me know. I am down at ftech next week, i will point them to this post.

The only specialist in car electrics who have been loose on my car ever was Taylors in Aberdeen, Not sure they could fix this, but they would be straight with you, and would not make it any worse. They cured a number of poor wiring issues on my car and were not that expensive. They would not touch the internals of the ECU and to be honest I am surprised this happened at all, its not really some thing any garage I know would entertain.

Just to be clear, I never had a hot start issue. This only happened after the gearbox was replaced when she was in the garage. It was the fan staying on and car not starting unless battery disconnected.
