Morning,

Can i ask if our forum sponsors can offer members a deal on postage ?

I am the looking to order a couple of exhaust rubbers for a total of £5, the total cost comes to just shy of £20.

They are a bit like Ryanair !! Being enticed in with a reasonable initial cost but by the time you get to the checkout the final price bares no resemblance to the original price !!

Thanks

The issue appears to be a fixed price for postage.

£10 for a £1 screw just seems excessive, but £10 for a large heavy item makes more sense.

I had another bad experience: I selected the cheapest shipping option. (within UK) At checkout it was suddenly changed to a very un-economic option.

That is why sometimes it works out cheaper and faster to get it from an MD especially one that gives discount for the forum.

Paying a fortune for the postage of envelope size items and then having to wait ages is not exactly pushing me to buy from them.

Picking and packing small items is rarely cost effective and most couriers work on a minimum charge so it's not usual for small orders to have disproportionate shipping cost especially for small businesses. How Amazon can ship £2 items for little or no extra shipping cost is beyond me

I understand your point but surely that is priced into your overall pricing and operating costs ? You will have a rough idea of how many many small items and how many large items you send each year ?

Meridian Modena always seem to be able to ship items at a fair and reasonable cost.
Most ebay sellers can send small parts for free
Soprano Stu can post subframes for less.
McGraths have sent me small gaskets for £3 postage.

I doubt they will lose any sleep because i have not bought a couple of exhaust rubbers from them, but I will try and avoid buying large items from them aswell.
