Exhaust Flap Control and or Overide Options for a Gransport?

I have been searching about this for the Gransport but not found a great deal of specific info.

Is there a proven and neat way of having remote control or switched control of the exhaust vaccuum flaps?

If anything I'd like to keep it in sport (to enjoy the faster changes) but occasionally reduce the volume down a bit.

My car has an X Pipe with primary cat delete so it is relatively loud.

Having more control might also be good if I go for a Larini rear box which might make it a bit louder again.

I've found some fairly heath robinson like kits such as this one, not sure about the quality of components or wiring:

Or can you use something more like this inline version where it would presumably go between the sport button signal wiring and the OEM valve?

Looks like "mini timer" connections, does the GS have that?

Thanks In advance :)

I thought gransport back boxes were valved, search FIFTY’s thread I think he did something similar.
Boxes are valved as standard, but at the moment they only switch via the sport button which also controls the dampeners and gearbox etc.

Your correct the valves are controlled by sport button and are vacuum controlled to pull the valves shut.

The valves are open under the following conditions:

1. Open always on start up for a second or so as there is no vaccum to pull the valves shut until its accumulated. This happens both in sport and standard mode.

2. Selecting sport mode will keep the valves open at all times.

3. The valves will be open at above 3000 rpm regardless of which mode you are in.

If you want the valves open all the time even in standard mode then the easy way to achieve this is pull and plug the vacuum lines for both valves.

If you want to have the option to open / close the valves below 3000 rpm in standard mode and sport mode then you run a switch or remote fob to the actuator on the underside of the car that controls vacuum pipes to the valves.

Judging by the sound, I think mine stay shut at all RPM's unless the flaps are pushed open a little at high rpm by the exhaust gasses.

Could be wrong, but that's what my ears tell me.

I know it's often the case on later cars that they open at high rpm but doesn't sound like it to be honest.

If you can get under the car see if you can move the valve actuator arm by hand. Yours may be seized and staying part open all the time.

As you said theincreased exhaust gases will normally push them open at higher rpms anyway unless they are seized. They normally seize in the open position as thats the default position with the engine off.

From what i can recall they start to open at 3000 rpm and fully open by 3500 rpm. The GranTurismo does it as well.

I thought they opened a bit at idle basically. I mean it's simple to test. Press the sport button at idle.... (different beast, of course, but that's even what mine does)

Press release blurb from the Ghibli about the exhaust valves. They work the same way as the GS/ GT as well.
