Ah I remember you were the proud owner of a Montego Countryman.

Strangely enough, that was one of the most reliable cars I've ever had. I bought it ex-lease with 106k on it for a cheap dog-carrier and scrapped it with 256k. Fantastically reliable Perkins diesel fitted to a disintegrating bodyshell! I've since moved onwards and upwards.

I've done about 140 (to scared to look at the speedo) in the GTA and that **** me up

I've done over a hundred faster than the motorway limit in a car and on a bike. Not a problem really as long as you don't get caught!

Can't beat a nice continental blast on a German autobahn!
It's quite liberating. Going really fast, and legal, with no fear of blue flashing lights behind.
Last time was in my Elise, a steady 120 with the hood off (which in an S1 felt a lot, lot faster)

I should have said, don't get caught.. out by slower traffic! Obviously.

Hit 178 GPS in the M5 and that was quick but the car could stop and got there quickly. I can't imagine this being anywhere near as quick or have the same handling and stopping power.

Not far off. I've seen 175 indicated in mine with the roof down. It felt planted and stopped well enough. I doubt it would get to 170+ as quick as an M5 but it goes well enough. I don't tend to do top speed runs any more as it thrashes the engine too much IMO.

Yes but yours is alot more modern than a 308 with an Emblem modification! Worrying to imagine 200mph and you'd need a long long stretch of road and an even bigger pair of balls to do it!

As I hinted at in an earlier post, IMO, it's a death trap. The engine has too much power for a rather uninspiring chassis and driving it in excess of 200mph seems to be the preserve of suicidal idiots. Certainly not one for me.

I'd be very surprised if it's seen 200mph on any road or even test track, it's bragging rights for sure. Why on earth they sourced a V12 I don't know as you say on a chassis like this it's suicidal.

Bet it's on standard brakes!

This sounds as scary as the Cobra v8 kit car I once had ....frightening in a straight line on dry roads! Never again too many unexpected sideways moments wrapped in plastic with nothing tech to help if required.

Got a massive hairy chest from it tho...good times!

I got talked into building a Dax Cobra kit car for a customer a few years ago putting in a brand new Rover 4.6 V8 with a four barrel carb on it cost over 30 grand parts and labour mates rates and I don't think he has done 2000 miles with it. When I told him what I paid for my 4200 he wouldn't believe me but he has been a civil servant all his life.
