I may have (long story)....or maybe it was the previous owner, your honour....

Centre resonator delete and replace with an X-pipe which you can do either off-the-shelf from people like RemusUK, or custom with a good exhaust shop. Mapping comes in two flavours....1) map to S spec 410bhp which involves opening the ECU or 2) mapping with a plug-in unit that can be removed and returned to stock on demand.

The standard petrol Ghibli is mechanically identical to the S so there is no issue handling the extra power. The S was effectively a map, and some extras like upgraded lights, thrown in to justify the additional cost.
Any recommendations on tuning companies? I’ve experience with some high end tunes with mates from velocity that did 1000hp in an M6. I don’t want to lose too much of the cars character, I like the tame mapping of the ICE mode, especially this time of year on the country roads. Haven’t had a dry day to really enjoy pushing it.

I’m sure my neighbours appreciate my 3 gear wheel spins up the road when planting it in the wet.

I’m on the Pirelli winter tyres as well.

Mine has the 6 pot. Took a few days to get used to the brakes to be honest. About 5mm travel between a gentle stop and pulling the eyeballs out of my skull, quite entertaining.
S needs the 6 pots. I got my regular 3.0 petrol Ghibli tuned (Celtic tuning) to the same power as the S and the 4 pots couldn't handle it. Terrible brake judder.

Anyway, glad you are enjoying your car. Petrol Ghibli is a lovely daily.

Thank you. Did you notice much change between the driving mode selection? Also any changes to mpg? I don’t care about the mpg but it’s definitely thirsty for 330hp, somehow the extra hp justifies the fuel mileage in my brain.

Yeah, you could spec the dual cast brakes for the base model. And yes, they can be somewhat binary. Confidence inspiring though.

I must admit I'm liking the sound of losing that centre and some more horses.....

<edit> Just looked at Remus, and I won't be going that route!

I’m with you there. Like £1200 for a centre box. Maybe we could tie a deal on somewhere. Where abouts are you based?

I do t like the idea of an ‘out the box’ tune. I much prefer when mixtures etc and computed live to the car. More expensive but maybe I’m being fussy

Harlow, Essex. I'm going in for brakes and MOT / ZF service next week. I'll check with Felice if he has an exhaust shop.
Also waiting on a quote from Celtic to get another 50 horses....

As I remember it was definitely perkier in both normal and sport modes.
Don't remember anything about changes in mpg to be honest.

Celtic quoted £395 for a mobile install. The Maserati Ghibli 2013> ECU remap takes the power from 410bhp up to 460bhp and the torque from 406lb/ft up to 455lb/ft.

Sounds fair :)

That's similar to what I remember for mine a few years ago now.

That’s pretty reasonable. I wonder what they’d get out of my base. I’m assuming 380/410hp and 600ish nm.

From what I’ve heard of the resonator delete on YouTube it seems to lose some of the warm tone of the exhaust note. It almost sounds a bit shouty and untuned. May be a different story in person though.

It's perfect, do it. And yes, the standard car goes to S spec with the map, more or less.

There are loads of tuning options, search about.

The exhaust is only shouty on cold start. Which is cool.

One imagines you could go from base to the 460?

Very tempted by the exhaust

C
I don't see why not, provided you're happy with your brake set up etc. On a non-skyhook car, i'd be tempted to put on some H&R springs to sit it down a little and tighten the handling. And I'd want 6 pots and decent pads from a proper brand like Ferodo, AP/Brembo or some EBC reds (yellows squeal in my experience).

Gave the car a good clean today, had enough light/dry time to get a good prewash, shampoo and 1 coat of sealant on. Also applied gummi pfledge to the seals everywhere.

I used chemical guys leather conditioner in the seats and extended leather dash and I’m really happy with the result. I don’t think it’s quite as deep penetrating as some leather treatments out there but it was real easy to apply and definitely gave everything a nice ‘hydrated’ look.

I’m getting the windows tinted soon, I think it definitely needs it.

In the spring I’ll have to grab some summer tyres to swap in to. Depending if I can get booked anywhere I’ll get the resonator delete and tune done. Just wanting to get the best tune without having to travel a million miles! Got a good tuner locally but his tune is 380hp not the 410hp I’ve seen elsewhere.

My understanding is that none of them penetrate at all as modern car leathers are sealed, but I stand to be corrected and it makes me feel better....

Celtic will come to you, wherever you are (apparently)

C
Have you pulled the trigger with your tune yet? I’ll have to give them a call.
