As I mentioned in my introduction, I like to work on my cars.
somehow it makes me more connected to a car by getting to know how it's put together.

anyhow, did I mention my very first car was an Alfasud? Well, its reputation was, how shall I put this , Italian.
I might come to this later on in this little story.

On my 2005 qpv -bought last week- the colours of the plastic front emblem were faded. Not a life threatening issue, but a grand dame looks better in the right make-up.
Therefore bought a replacement emblem and went on to swap the two.

Obviously, I needed to locate a tiny nut under the bumper to loosen it from its thread, and it's not reachable easily.
I started bolting of under the bonnet. engine cover 18 screws, left and right 2 nuts and bolts in rather small openings, took a rubber in front off, some more bolts on top. These ones were nicely dislocated so I started whistling 'you might recall' by Genesis. Love that song as much and as long as I love maserati cars.
Tried a bit of pulling on the bumper: more to do.

Took a weel of -checked the brakepads check ok - and started to unscrew the inner wheel cover.
Now, I could mention the Alfasud again, but I won't because it's logical to find several screws fairly rusted in a wheel arch. Yes?

Little problem, I stopped whistling, was that some of those wouldn't come of in one piece, I needed to drill 'em out.
As I proceeded, the cover under the engine needed undoing, so started there. Most screws came out, reluctantly because of (Alfasud) some rust and some got stuk and I needed again to drill.

The connection between side panel and bumper had two bolts each side, from which on every side one broke. Drill again. Alfasud!

From whistling but after 3 hours of fighting screws and bolts I ended up talking to myself with words like ****** and ******* and Italian *****
Different language, same meening I think.

Anyhow, finally the dame let go of her bumper, and I put my hand in to feel where, and what size that small nut would be.

Next time I will take a small tool and saw the emblem in half and loosen it by then breaking it in two.

There was no nut installed. :frusty1:

Now that's what I call badge engineering :)

I guessed the ending though.

Anyway, as a Dutchman who used to own an Alfasud, you might like the different ways I've commuted in the last week: bicycle, Alfasud, QP V and VW. OK, maybe not the last one.

It's a bit weird driving 1.5% of Britain's Alfasuds, especially when virtually no-one takes a second look!

Indeed I appreciate your way of moving around haha
as for the sud, I recall it driving like a go-kart with the ti engine

you have a classic on hand: in Holland only few left and sell at top price
