hello drew...what exactly does it mean to pair the batteries up and charge them? i have a ctek...and the battery is kaput on my GS....seems i did insufficient research on the need for continual battery charging. remarkable that such a nice, modern car would need such 'extraordinary maintenence!'. think i may be better placed just getting a new replacement battery that tweaking around and doing all sorts of damage!

Pairing up batteries - I used jump leads to connect a good battery to the completely flat battery from the QP. I then connected the battery charger to the good battery, and charged them together. The problem with the charger is that below a certain voltage it couldn't see a battery there as such, so wouldn't charge at all. Putting a fully charged battery on there in parallel meant it could see sufficient voltage, and was persuaded into charging them both. After 24 hours, I removed the extra battery and charger, and the QP battery was fully charged. Appears to be OK....

Just to be clear, I didn't use the spare battery to jump start the car. That's a recipe for disaster if you fire it up then remove the good battery - lots of spikes (or probably just one really good one) into the alternator circuit and a sad face on the way.

I just left it to think about it overnight...
