Formula dynamics brake upgrade for qp4.7s

Hi
I seem to be bombarding the site lately, but am having a few things sorted.
Given the already astronomical cost or replacing the front discs and pads on the 4.7 qp I was considering the formula dynamics offering which is of similar cost but they pitch as an upgrade to the standard maser offering.
Anyone tried them or have any thoughts on that?
Thanks

I have been a fan and customer of the FD products and overall very satisfied with their products and after sales. Pads were not such an upgrade though. It's not that the pad is not good, it's more to the fact that the QP/4200 simply need bigger brakes overall.

Interesting, well spotted. That's a lot less (though I forget the previous price). I'm planning on picking some up from FD in the new year - they're $1170 for a pair plus state tax (8% in Nevada), so about £800, +/-. They claim to be better than factory, and a bit lighter, though I'd be surprised if the difference was really noticeable. They'll always feel better because you'd be replacing bolloxed with new!

3k for a pair seems to ring a bell

Are you bringing them back in a suitcase or shipping them, I'd think you'd need something like a Peli if you're carrying them, they way they chuck them about they'd destroy a normal case with the weight

£3k or so does ring a bell. I wonder why the huge drop, unless Eurospares has buggered up the pricing.

They weigh about 10kg each so I can carry one and one can go in the hold.

E'spares have commissioned a number of after market spares for the Maserati range. These may be part of that order but the advert would say pattern. I understand Drewf runs them on his and is happy with their performance.

That's right, Peter, but for the 4.2 only. The rears are the same but the front disks on the 4.7 are different. To date only Maserati and FD have sold front disks for the 4.7. The ones Eurospares are advertising are shown as subject to availability. I'll call them later.

Correct, one of the biggest costs in GTS ownership for sure

Eurospares tell me that the disks they list at £463 (+VAT) are original Maserati, but not in stock.

My originals are on 42k miles, were skimmed at 20k and now look like this:

Bit of a bump

I was just looking at eurospares, they now list a brake disc for the 4.7 at £463 + vat each which is considerably less than last time I looked

http://www.eurospares.co.uk/parts/m.../braking-devices-on-front-wheels-46041/235318

Last time I looked a few months ago they were £449 each ex vat. The price basically moves around depending on the euro sterling exchange rate.

I think that the real question is whether eurospares commission pattern discs/pads for the front on the 4.7. Surely there is a better margin for them here but are the front discs hard to manufacture?
