Hi Everyone,

I am writing this thread just to share my experience with the module from Formula Dynamics the Drive by Wire Enhancement module (DBWEM).

It is just amasing!!!!!!!!
I agree with some of other people feedback, it is an expensive mod. but it is really worthy.

The module changes the throttle response making the gear change much much quicker.
It has got two seetings that can be chosen with a switch.

The most aggressive setting (they call it prepare for war) is just unbelivable.
If you are not happy with the way the car chnages gears epsecially below 3500RPM or when you start driving the car on the first gear then I suggest you consider it.

I only have a negative feedback to make, which is about the installation instructions very complicated to follow. just couple of picture plus stickers on the connectors would have made it much easier. Last negative point is the wires/cabling used is not good quality and too short in my opinion, but I guess we can live with that.

Cheers for now

Where did you get it from? Thanks for the feedback, I'm also considering to buy one. But am in the process of changing all speakers and getting the secondary cats removed and the 50k service..... so need to wait until april or so, as it all came up to 2k. (and then I ordered Pirelli Pzero Corsas all around, whith new 19" which came up to 2k again :battered:)
Does the DBWEM anything except modulating the gear-change?

cheers

I got it from formula dynamics in us las Vegas but u can get it from the UK dealer as well.
The modulation of the gear change is done by altering the throttle response mainly. So the car feels much more reactive especially at low mid revs. It does not change the ECU fuel parameters, for that there is another module very expensive which I do not need.

Regarding the exhaust mod, I have a us version which means primary cat on manifolds and secondary cat on the down pipe with a squashed pipe. If u have this version I advise u what I have done (and also other people in the forum) which makes a huge difference to just remove the secondary.

What I Ve done is to buy second hand the primary cat of the UK version (with not cats) replace it and make a custom secondary pipe look like the Larini one welding a HJS 200cell cat as primary cat by moving the cat lambda sensor down the pipe ( the wires are long enough do not need to sold anything)

It has got two seetings that can be chosen with a switch.

Note that FD will make the two settings according to your need, e.g. Aggressive + Bypass , or Aggressive + Very Aggressive.

This isn't always clear on the website (unless they have updated it recently).

What's the 'downside' of Very Aggressive compared to just Aggressive? Just fuel economy or does it increase wear on clutch etc?

V aggressive used to give one a nasty smell of burning clutch sometimes so stayed away from that setting.

In my case, I didn't find the 'Aggressive' setting made enough of a difference to warrant the money. FD kindly reset the box, and things were a lot better.

I imagine PIS and driving style may play a bit of a part. In other words YMMV. I occasionally got the smelly clutch on a hard change, but I was nevertheless happy as the mod took me from 90% satisfied with my car to 100%.

Still not as good as the dual clutch in my 4C, though. Why Maserati's still haven't been given dual clutch tech is a mystery and a disappointment.

The best part was that all four 550's cost me less than two maserati OEM from the main dealer and that includes shipping from OS!
