From Gransport to Granturismo S

I'll take you out with me on track and we'll see what you say then about the MC box and how nimble it is. It's not that heavy a car really when you consider they fit similar boxes to M5, RS6 etc...

Done plenty of track driving in my time, much of it in much lighter cars. I would take a 160bhp Caterham any time over any of the fat 450-550bhp cars. Sure you can mask the issue by going to high average speed circuits but on more technical circuits - like Knockhill - these heavy cars are all over the place, largely due to the inability of the brakes to keep up.

None of the above is gearbox related, purely weight.

No issues with my brakes at Llandow which is a very tight track. They handle well for a big motor that's for sure.

Sure they do for the size and weight but it's not really the point of them for me.

That's fair enough, each to their own, I like the fact that it can be driven around in non-sport mode as a comfy GT car and then if I want to hit the SPORT button and it has a mad sharp throttle, snarling sound and a gearshift that really is lighting quick and can be taken on track and keep up with much smaller track focused cars. For me an auto would just dull that down and make it a tad boring but as I said each to their own.

I have to say that i found the Gransport extremely 'chuckable' and a raw driving experience but the ride was too crashy at times. For me the granturismo s ticks all the boxes. It can be a proper GT car and feel comfortable but the difference for me is that the MC gearbox gave me that feeling i had in my GS - that i was driving a proper sports car. I love the pitch change in the exhaust with the button press as well. You really feel that the car has completely changed (jekyll and hyde). Whilst i liked the auto for me it just made the car an even more impressive GT. Whereas it was important for me to still have that sporty feel i got from the GS.

Phil was not going top bring the GTS to Llandow as he thought it would be embarrassed by the lighter coupes, but I told him it wouldn't...and it didn't.

For a large car they are very stable in the cornering and only front brakes let them down...addressed in the Strads.

Stefano, good choice on the MC Shift. I am probably the only one not to have known this from the start of ownership (its probably even in the user manual) but on starting the car, turn the ignition on and wait about three seconds before continuing the turn to the starter position. It makes slow driving very very smooth - "butter smooth" as someone said.

Absolutely and with Andy in I said watch me stay with these Elises and he didn't think it or I could but I certainly did.
