Front Badge Removal/Replacement.

Hi all,

The Maser badge on the front (not the Trident on the grill but on the bodywork, over the front grill) of my QP is badly corroded, I have a replacement I want to fit.

I removed the engine cover and the front grill to try and get access, but it's a no go. The badge is both stuck on and bolted on, from underneath, I think the bumper has to come off to access it, is this correct?

Not entirely sure, have you looked up through the grill to see it the retaining bolt/nut is visible, as the grill can be removed separately, if you can avoid removing the bumper please do!

Hi.

Had the grill off, as I am considering spraying it black, already, but did not see any access. Will look again, a bit harder this time!

There is a way but its a bit brutal.

If you can't gain access, drill and screw a large self tapping screw through the emblem and yank it off.

What i would personally do is buy the new one first then you can see where and how strong the fixings are. If you have a drill you could simply drill through the badge in the right spot and the then push the old studs through, then simply glue your new one on, best to use body shop double sided tape, but the new badge will probably come with it on.

Beats taking the bumper off, just be car full with a drill on a curved badge, it will want to slip off sideways, get a few layers of gaffa tape around it first, just in case.

Hi GG,
Your assumption is correct, the bumper will have to come off if you want to unscrew the old badge off and re-screw the new one on.
It is not an easy job as there are quite a few fixings that make the bumper fit correctly all the way round...
you will also find that the nose is filled with high density foam.
Regards
Enzo.

Hi,

Ok got the new badge, will attack my pride and joy with a Black and Decker, a nice masonery bit (on the Hammer setting, of course) should do it!

Ho!

Changed the front badge, its freaky getting a drill to your car but it worked, thanks for the suggestion!

There is no way it would have been worth it if the bumper had to come off.

Just bought a new emblem for my Gransport, is the method the same or does anyone know if you can gain access to the nut easier than the QP?

Thanks

There's a lad on here who took his off his GS to simply clean the car! I cant remember his name off the top of my head, a young Aussie lad..... will see if I can find the thread.
