Full Interior Retrim

Hi All,

I have the exterior of my black GS back to perfect condition. I now want to give the interior the same treatment. It is looking tired and leather is cracked etc. Mine is avorio (cream) leather and navy blue tech cloth. Asides from horrible reflection on the windscreen it is also impossible to keep clean. About the time i was looking for a GS i saw a full black leather interior with yellow piping. I loved it.

So im looking for a company to essentially change my interior to full black leather with yellow piping. My callipers are yellow so will match nicely and i know it is an oem combination so it wont look silly. Would involve seats, headlining, pillars, door cards etc etc

Any recommendations of companies in the south east??

Thanks,

Get your dash covered in alcantara. Will look ace.

There's a company inMaldon Essex who can do that. Can't think of there name though.

Place next to Emblem in Poole. But it won't be cheap...cost me £50 just for a press stud to be replaced.

That'll be around 10k plus then .... a skilled man in a shed won't be able to replicate certain trim parts however good he is..

There's lots of original LHD stuff for sale on the interweb..

I agree with Dave, it's far more straightforward to buy a whole interior than retrimming what you've got.

I've spent thousands on retrims in the past..ok they all looked fantastic.. but some just lacked that certain original factory detail that you just can't remanufacture...

Like Dicky mentions, you cant beat a nice original trim set, It'll save you thousands in the long run!

Is that Kevin Baggs in Dorset? Meridian Modena recommended him. It won't be anywhere near 4k I wouldn't have thought. To get the right quality you can't scrimp.
Head rests alone you are looking at 4 figures or close.

There's no headrests in a Gransport Iain, but you'd be looking at £5-6k and like Dave says, it's never as good as original. For an interior, there's 4 places really;

Greg @ PPCP in Tipperary.
David Askew
Stuart in Manchester
Eurospares

One of them may have a GS interior, I'd say £3k for the lot would be a fair price for very good condition one. It is then around 4-5 days work to swap it out so another £1500 or so.... But then you have an interior to sell on unless you chose to keep it. Personally I'd not bother, I would have it detailed, my guy is excellent and never ceases to amaze me as to what he can do with leather interiors and everything else for that matter. I'm sure there must be top end leather interior specialists in your area.

There was a guy with a Gransport who had his interior retrimmed last year or so - James?? - from fabric stuff to leather. As I recall price was reasonable and looked good - place in Essex? Have a search - should be on here still...

Sorry I was talking about the GTS I had been quoted on (pre facelift style) - apologies I should have been clearer.
Thanks for the ideas re: trimming. Crucial to know the right people to trust with that sort of thing.

And as our cars are now worth a few quid ... a nice 16 year old Italian original interior is priceless!

If it is the same James I know, he spent around £2500 putting red piping in his Gransport to match his brake calipers. He didn't re-trim the tech cloth to leather though which is what I would've done. The main hassle with the job is getting the entire dash out, the seats and door cards aren't too difficult. He could have saved £2250 and painted his calipers to match the piping instead!

As what you want (Black/Yellow) it would be near impossible to find used. However could you not order the covers only from Maserati?

Black would most likely be the easiest to find and piping would then need adding. Like Safrane says, finding one with Giallo piping already is nigh on impossible. Don't think you'd get anywhere with ordering from Maserati but if you don't ask, you don't get....

How about having your current one refurbished (cracks covered, repainted, etc) if it's not too far gone?
I repaired and repainted the entire interior in an old Volvo myself, and it looked OK (PITA job but rewarding in the end).
I guess a professional will make it look quite good, still with the original look and at a reasonable price.

Im thinking black with red piping or blck with yellow piping. Will check out some of the suggested sources. The interior is fine and a couple of hundred quid would probably make it look fine (recolour etc). But that is always a temporary fix. But the rest of the car looks brand new (its had a full respray). So im keen to try and make the inside look mint too. Car is a keeper so willing to invest in it.
