Gearbox Oil Loss

Just had the car out for the first long run since getting her on the road.

Pulled up in car park at Chipping Norton & noticed oil dripping from underneath.

The whole of the underside, rear bumper, boot etc was covered in fine oil spray.

Upon investigation found that one of the rubber hoses from the gearbox to the oil cooler had perished & split.

We were very lucky to find a local garage at 3pm on Saturday that helped carry out a temporary repair & top up
the gearbox oil.

Am now going to replace both hoses & refill the box with new oil to ensure that it doesn't happed again.

Thought it worth while to mention as it may be worth checking your hoses!

Worst still and definately ones to keep a regular check on, are the main oil pipes feed and return to the main oil tank , they have a habit of cracking emptying your oil tank in seconds , so an avid eye always on that pressure gauge

dash pressure /guage is for engine oil only , gearbox oil should show as alight on the centre of the dash if it gets too low

hope i never see it on... saw the gearbox light on, when the F1 pump failed.. Thanks for the tip Loz.

The CC dash light denotes gear selection problems probably due to lack of hydraulic fluid pressure (ie pump failure) nothing toi do with gearbox oil Nikos
