Went to look at it very sad condition in the flesh. Leather has been re collonised at some point very badly it's sad to see but needs a LOT of tlc in my opinion.

I've not inspected this car, but any Ghibli of this age that has done this mileage will have had some rust issues dealt with, and if the interior is cream, some reconollising also. But you want the work to have been completed to a high standard.

Ewan, it wasn't a little rust as I had pictured sent me on this car around 5 years ago when it was for sale...The sills I believe were in a pretty terrible state....

But have they not been repaired? The killer on these is rust around the bulkhead, but rusty sills can be repaired/replaced.

Hi again lads

I have seen this in the flesh and it is in VERY POOR condition. In other words it would cost upwards of £10 k to put it right. As some will know I have experience with Ghibli's it is in my opinion worth around £3k MAX.

Jethro Bovingdon tweeted a pic of this months back saying something favourable.

Great looking thing, but seeming not the peach it might look.

There has been quite a lot of threads on this one on several sites. However they are getting thin on the ground though so it really needs saving, especially in that colour combo...stunning. I also went to see it 2 weeks ago and its in a pretty poor condition and needs major TLC. It has been painted but very badly so needs a proper respray, the whole interior needs real attention not just the leather but the trims and carpets also in a bad way. Apparently the rusty sills have been dealt with but other rust needs to be investigated properly. Its does look so good though.......can you tell I'm tempted.....so tempted in fact that Andy at Mcgrath is doing a full pre purchase inspection for me this week. Not sure if I'm mad but I need to scratch my Ghibli itch for the second time. Wish me luck !!!!!

Good luck...I think you will need it...and deep pockets.

But thank you for considering saving some Maserati heritage.

Lets see what McGraths find first..........gulp !
you've sent the right man to look at it :)

I was at McGraths last week and saw a bi turbo which was in the process of being stripped and build on a mire solid chassis. Seems rust really is a problem with Maseratis of that era. Such a shame.

Good luck, I hope it is worth saving. Be good to see some more pics if you proceed.

Thanks Woody, I am hoping luck will be on my side and the rust was dealt with properly. I asked Andy at McGraths whether he could tell and without hesitation he said he will see what has been done (or not !!) and what else needs attention. Depending on what he finds it may come down to price. So definitely the right choice to do the inspection.

Tomorrows the big day.

I'd love it to be saved. But it won't make immediate financial sense to restore it, so plan it to be a keeper. A proper repaint, some leather work, carpets, a proper service etc - that already adds up to the asking price. And at that money you would be far better off buying the unique French blue Ghibli Cup that's for sale.

I just remembered something else. I may know of another Ghibli for sale, and it's the same dark red of your old LHD car. But this car is a 2.8 lt. RHD model and has the biscuit interior. Its very nice but not quite perfect. Feel free to pm me if you are interested.
