Ghibli summer tyre recommendations

Hi guys,

I am on the hunt for some summer tyres, from what I’ve read the Pirelli pzeros don’t seem to be that great and last all that long in terms of cracking after a couple of years etc. I see a lot of you rate the Michelin compound of PS4 better, I get a bit confused between PS4, PS4s and PS5 and would appreciate some help.

I have 19’ proteo alloys so sizes are 245/45 R19 and 275/40 R19. I’ve read you can bump the width up to 255 and 285 but I don’t have any experience with doing that on any of my cars.

I currently have Pirelli sottozeros on. I can’t say they’ve great but at least I have something to swap out for winter use, they’re pretty much brand new and came with the car. They’re quiet enough but definitely swirm with a boot full and spin if you’re not gentle when pulling away.

I’d also appreciate some advice on storing tyres if anyone has any?

I’d love some 20’ Uranos for summer but I think the mrs will go mental as I don’t really have anywhere to store them, it may be worth the earache though if I get a bit of money together.

Thanks in advance

PS4S compared to the PZero (20”)

Don’t skip as bad in the cold on lock
Quieter
Lasting longer
95% of the dry grip
Far better in the damp/cold little difference in summer heavy rain.

PS4S drawbacks? The only tyre my local fitter has not recommended repairing, sidewalls are apparently super thin and if the vehicle weight has sat on it, not even driven, it creases them. i had to scrap one with 6mm on it, I did have it repaired to drive carefully for a week till we could get a matching one.

The PS4S is higher performance over the PS4 I think, never been offered a PS5. Was told to avoid the Maserati and Ferrari specific Michelins and Pirelli’s as they are both softer end have less tread, they’re apparently for impressing road testers, not for regular use (not sure if true but my Maserati specific P zeroes were at 2.5mm in 8000 miles)

Matt 'the Boss' Conaero recommended Falken Tyres some time ago.

So I took his advise and purchased a set of Falken Azenis FK520 Performance Road Car Tyre from Demon Tweeks at a cost of £473 delivered. (I found it difficult to get a firm with tyres that fitted front and rear with the different sizes Maserati's have)

That did not include fitting but as i was getting my Alloys refurbed the alloy firm did it for me and balanced the wheels as well.

Pirellis should be given to Newton for use in playgrounds...

Never had an issue with Michelin Pilots. Conti makes some nice shoes, as well. Not put Falkens on these, but had them on a CL600 and didn't hate them.

That’s a great help thank you

I ran falkens on my bmw. They seemed to be really good for RWD, never even considered using them on the Maserati. Would definitely be interested

I've had Falkens on various cars over the years, and they're currently fitted to the V. Never had a problem with them. Contis are on the VI.
