Whey hay!
Got my original vintage quartz Seiko chronograph back today, the worlds first quartz chronograph, my 18th birthday present fully repaired and rebuilt, after failing due to water damage 20 years ago!
Specialist independent watch smith in Oldham has had for about 4 months sourcing all the parts to repair it.
It wasn't until six months ago that I discovered it to be a James Bond watch!

Much cooler than those Omega and Rolex watches!!!

Just very sentimental, one of those things in life that I would never sell, like my Stag the first car I bought around the same time!

That is lovely. Still looks so contemporary and, dare I say, better than most current Seikos......

When it died 20 years ago, the regular high street watchsmith took the back off and declared it unrepairable as it was water damaged, so it just got thrown in a trinket box. I then bought a newer Seiko and it was not the same. It was not as 'fine'...the hands on this one are very thin, and they point exactly at the incremental marks on the dial, perfect precision, better than a TAG I own in fact.
It was not until I was finding an independent to replace the battery in my TAG that could do a full pressure test once fitted, that I found http://www.time-repairs.com/ that restores old watches, including Seiko's, as well as the regular battery replacements with pressure tests.
Brian had to find a second hand circuit board and replacement broken clasp, then he stripped it completely, cleaned up the case, and fitted a new glass face. So it had the full monty! The last time he saw one the same was over 5 years ago.
He's a wonderful chap and any watch repairs and battery replacements I will go no where else, and for me only 30 mins away.
I also had an original 10 year old Tissot Touch that was half working, it told the time but the compass and stopwatch stopped working. He sent it off to Tissot for me for he knew they would offer me the brand new Tissot Touch II as a replacement with new 2 year guarantee for £175...the nearest Titanium model received back costs over £600 on the high street. Result!

My Seiko is 25 years old and still perfect. I bought it in Barcelona airport for about £15 in 1990!

Very elegant, a real classic look to it. The newer Seikos are nice, too. A bit more showy than yours but still nice. And a fraction of the price of Omegas, too!
