**** part of any management role especially when your team think you're good. Had to lose 20% of mine at the end of last year and the impact on those that stayed has been tough, they all love their job, love working for me but are worried about the future and little I can do to dispel those fears.

Same boat. Can't say "It's all going to be fine", because we genuinely at this point have no idea.

Sorry to read that you are going through this, many on here will have been through similar. I am not sure what’s worse, being caught up in a round of redundancies- having to implement them for others, or being the one to decide they are necessary. I have experience of them all :( and with 1200 employees counting on the continued success of our company, do not take my responsibilities lightly.

All we can ask is that we are treated fairly and that we treat people fairly…………..

Best of luck to you and those affected - something better may be just a round the corner.

It happened to me when I was in my 30's and apart from my time in New Zealand I've been self employed ever since for me it was the kick up the backside I needed.
Everyone should try self employment at some stage it's a good lifestyle choice.

Done it. Was OK. Will probably do it again. I'm not good / don't enjoy the selling bit

Hardest part is saying no to things because in your head you think you need the work **** and all.
Once you master the control of the diary it can become pleasurable from my experience.
So far this year I've done nada to earn anything and I'm loving it especially being able to put my efforts into the house renovations.

Unless the diary is empty....

Redundancy paid for the SZ and it pushed me to become self employed which really made a change to my life, would never be where I am now without it. Moving over here and back to employed status has suited me timing wise as it's just keep the bank account topped up.

Sadly not everyone is so lucky and timing currently is not great the job market is generally shrinking here unless you have very specific skills

Fingers crossed for a swift recovery (arm and taste for ketamine
:D)

As some others noted, there's quite some nervosity on the business climate at my employer with all the questions that come with it. It's also inspired the question on going self employed. Might be worth its own topic...

Let's do it. Transnational and stuff!

And thanks for the well wishes!
