Hi guys

You may remember my s vs sport vs 2018 thread a few weeks back. Have just put a deposit down on this. Seems a good colour (less hassle than black), light interior, 1 owner, full maserati history etc. Just needed your help on one thing:

As part of the deal, they offered to change the colour of the wheels. I was going to ask for Gloss Black. What do you guys think? Good or bad choice? Thanks

Firstly congrats, that’s lovely.
Im not a fan of black wheels, I like the color already on it.
Enjoy.

lol, looks like I should have negotiated something other than a wheel colour change. What if not black but just a bit darker? Eventually I think I will switch to the MC design wheels, but wanted them to look nice in the interim.

The problem with asking everyone what they think about wheel colour & indeed wheel style as with another active thread currently, you're always going to get some people in one camp, and others in another - it's a personal choice and with the choice of colour & style, I don't think there any choices which are awful as the car in the first place is already so damned good looking.
Whatever your gut tells you but it looks like it's only short term anyway as you are looking to switch to MC wheels anyway.
This probably doesn't help but enjoy the new car when it arrives, whatever colour wheels it has!

Please be brutally honest. I value everyones opinions here. I guess the other question would be if I eventually sell the alloys, what colour would be most sought after. Seen so many black alloys, thus thought they were quite popular and easier to sell?

First of all, congratulations. That is an Awsome looking GT!
Love gritio granito and the contrasting light interior.

As the others have said, wheels are so subjective. And in the most part, on this forum (of mainly aging people ) there isn't a lot of love for the darker wheels.

The astros do look good in the oem Anthracite, it's a good compromise, but in gloss black I think they'll just get lost, in the massive wheel arch as a big black hole.

FYI, I have excacly the same, and in most lighting conditions they look almost black anyway.
To prevent the ' black hole' I changed my calipers to white, to make them pop and tie in better with the interior.

If your gonna colour change, go for something completely different for astros , like black/shadow chrome or a matt grey mat grey maybe?

Anyway, do what YOU like.

Ps, if your negotiating anything, get a new drivers floor mat ;)

I’d keep them the same colour, or silver. Not a fan of gloss black. But I am one of the fairly old ones...

Great shout, and thats exactly what I just did and got the ceramic coat at half price. Colour is staying the same post refurb. Thanks everyone, much appreciated.
see - there is sensible advice as well as a thousand opinions! Congratulations :D

btw having spare sets of wheels is a mixed blessing. I am moving house with two spare sets after "letting go" of two spare sets (not maserati).

Turns out shipping for 20" wheels is almost impossible when fitted with tyres - too heavy!
Personally the gloss black is my least favourite look. As ^^^ above the wheels get lost in the big arches. Also triggers my personal prejudice of modern blinged up cars which often have gloss black.

I’ve just gone through similar after buying my GT a few weeks ago.

It came with the OEM Astros in dark anthracite , but prior to buying I’d already decided I would swap out for a set of Neptune’s in Grigio Mercury. I have to be honest an say that the Astros grew on me and look great. I agree with other comments on here and would keep them in OEM dark anthracite, they are a few shades lighter than black and are enough to differentiate the alloy from the tyre wheel arch in pics (although in the flesh they look even better). I have seen some Astros done in a lighter shade of anthracite and I’m not so keen.

You may have seen this pic already as I’ve posted recently....
