I drove the GT and the GT S and for me the S was the better car, breaking, performance etc. The GT left me feeling flat and would have ended up making modifications to get it to where I wanted, but the price difference was alot.
I had a BMW Alpina B3 before buying the GTS and I would have to the say the electronic etc on the BMW was much better, is was a 2003 model and had more advanced electronics. I did test drive the new 3,5,6 series and Alpina variants but have to say whilst the performance was good, they just did not inspire me. The gizmo's on the new 6 series is unbelievable and the ride etc was very good but it just looks like an old mans car in the new shape.
Soon as i drove the GTS my mind was made up but agree they really need to step up a gear again on the electronic as still 5 years behind the Germans, An example is the problem with the parking sensors, on my BMW near went wrong once in 5 years, I'm also not convinced they actually know what they are doing with the firewarm updates either to solve issues with sat nav and ipod issues. On my 2010 Maserati, I have already had the front sensor replaced and noticed yesterday that they have failed again, not good on a car for that price.
Saying that though, soon as I start her up I just seem to accept the problems and just love driving it.
