Okay I guess yeah servicing and parts are same cost, however I believe some problems were ironed out as mentioned above ?
Roberto Grimaldi Engineering Halstead bang oppoisite EurosparesThanks for the reply
I live Suffolk/Essex border and I believe there’s a good specialist in a place called Halstead forgotten his name though. But yes I can’t imagine a GTS being much more expensive than the Beamer yearly. Thanks
I am looking preferably for Blue, red or black with white or tan interior
Not my red oneBlue are sought after and pretty rare, loads of red or black ones about.
Agreed. Conversely, don't be afraid to wait until you find the car you want. It's been a buyer's market for quite a while and that won't change any time soon.Careful you don't fall into the trap of buying the only blue one for sale at the risk of a good car in a different colour.
Oh okay can’t be horrificSorry don't know as my 4.7 is post the problem.
Yes, to be honest I had budgeted around that for my estate. £900 for air con pump without labour !Yep. My variators had a issue, which was solved by the dealer. So that was a good deal for me. Shouldnt be an issue on later cars.
Some other stuff you cant really check for. My aircon pulley failed. No idea how you would check that. Same for dampers and bushings (but im not a mechanic). My exhaust failed (can happen apparantly). All in all i spend about 2500 pounds in 2 years time / 13k miles. If i add that up to the price i bought the car for i wouldnt have had a much better, younger or lower miles car. Also, most of the things that failed on my car could have failed on any other car (unless recently replaced).
Apart from the above, these cars are pretty reliable and well made. The engine and gearbox (the auto at least) will last a lifetime. Service costs add up because of the labour. Parts can be expensive but there are more budget friendly alternatives for most parts. And this forum has all the info regarding replacement parts
I budget around 2000 a year for regular costst and maintenance. This includes any unexpected costs that could pop up.
Yes perhaps, I do always try and go for condition over anything else really. However I’m quite happy to wait for the ‘right’ car to pop up.Careful you don't fall into the trap of buying the only blue one for sale at the risk of a good car in a different colour. I probably wouldn't have chosen my Strad in white but it was the best on the market at the time and, besides, once you buy one you will be hooked and like the rest of us will be a serial Maserati buyer and over time you will probably have a blue one!
Beautiful !Not selling mine but this gives you an idea what dark blue with tan looks like.View attachment 68131
Wow, yeah I’ll be sure to give Mr Grace a call when the time is right, probably after this lockdown business so could be a while, and may have to sell one or two cars or the wife might start asking questions... But looking forward to it and this summer. Thankyou to everyone for their advice and replies!Hi mate, another thumbs up for Dicky Grace. He was recommended from this website, he had a black 4.7 gts auto in black like I wanted. Managed to get a deposit done over the phone, Dickie picked me up from the station and car was exactly as described. Drove it all the way back to surrey with a massive grin. That was 2017, and all the car has cost me in that time was a service for 780 pounds at autoofficina in Surrey. Buy one, you wont look back, and Dicky Grace is worth having a chat to, he gave me lots of advice! Good luck
How many miles have you done it in since bought ?Hi mate, another thumbs up for Dicky Grace. He was recommended from this website, he had a black 4.7 gts auto in black like I wanted. How can you tell if your car is at risk for variators before you buy the car ?Hi Jamie, welcome. There are a handful of us in the Essex / Suffolk boondocks. Your ideal spec sounds lovely, but rare. The fact is, they all look wonderful. My old GTS (sold to Dicky, incidentally, and now living in Bristol) was utterly reliable bar a few maintenance things and minor blah blah but never let me down. Main cost items were clutch, a/c compressor, timing gear and cam gaskets and that’s about it. Even though it fell into the at-risk category for variators it was perfectly fine. Maybe because I was used regularly, or I was just lucky. Anyway, I think your target age and model will be fine but do check the underside for rust and get it protected. Matt and Ash at SportsItalia are your go-to guys.
As others have said, give Dicky a shout, also Nareman at Nuvola London has an excellent reputation. Mine came from there and he was a joy to deal with.

<148697You need to get the engine number and check if it is before a number which someone will post in a minute.
Cheers guys<148697
