GranTurismo - ABS and Suspension Warning Lights

Hello All,

Finally purchased a 07 GranTurismo and what a car it is! Absolutely love it, the noise, the looks, everything. As soon as this rain stops, I'll try and post some pics. However, I am experiencing a slight problem. A few days ago I got an audible/visual warning message saying that the ABS and MRS had failed and to contact a dealership immediatley. The car itself didnt feel different at all and the breaks appeared to be fine. It started off intermittently, but now comes on as soon as I start the car. Has anyone experienced similar problems?

Many Thanks

I've had/have this.
Needed a new suspension ECU system but the fault has come back and they can't get to the bottom of it yet, it's been reset 3 times now. They are saying new NIT unit now 6K and I'm saying *uck off! As they can't actually give me 100% confirmation it is the NIT.
Check your battery terminals are tight, really tight and there's no water in the boot first off because there are a lot of connections deep in the boot and if the contacts get corroded it shorts out the system. Then give the instrument cluster a good hit and see what happens. Indy's won't be able to clear these codes as they are deep in the system and you need the full sw, only issued to main dealers, to get that deep in the system.
Pls let me know how you get on, maybe you'll have better luck than I've had with owens. There was another guy on here with a dead NIT system and he got a 2nd hand unit but I don't know how he got on as he never replied to the PM I sent. From what I understand you have to completely re-code the NIT and again only Italy has the codes specific to your car and this can only be done by the MD again. No idea how much that costs of even if Italy will entertain a 2nd hand system re-boot?
I'm thinking of taking mine back to Italy, a friend claims to know someone deep in SRL and I'm going to press him this week to see if thats BS.

This is really interesting.

I know that on the QP5 people have had issues with water getting into the fuse/relay box in the footwell. Without having looked does this mean that the same stuff is in the boot on the GranTurismo? If so, then, I guess parking in a garage will materially help minimise this risk?

mmm well.... There was some water, all be it a tiny amount, in my boot. They water tested it twice and nothing. I'd left it out in the rain for 2 weeks and driven it in some pretty poor conditions to see if it would fill up again and nothing..... Yes there's some pretty serious kit in the boot that needs to be kept away from water! I think there's 7 or 9 computers in total in the car and they all need to talk to each other, kinda like an aircraft without the wings. Way too many for my liking. 'KIS' Keep It Simple is what I was taught at college!

Water / Damp and electrics do not mix at all, does the car steam up at all inside, if so you need a de-humidifier in there to clear it, then stuff might just work..!!

Never found one that worked, although I'm not sure that's not because the cars I tried leaked quite badly....

No, cars fine so no idea where that came from. Its finding someone with the ability to track down this intermittent fault without removing 6k from my BC. IMO I believe its a loose connection somewhere, guessing the instrument binnacle as a lot of the systems run through that, well thats what I'm hoping otherwise I'm just going to walk away. :(

Thanks for the replies. I've read (via google) that disconnecting/reconnecting the battery may solve the problem - Might try this but not sure if this will have implications for the sat nav and other things. Will also have a look this weekend to see if there is any water contamination. The car is parked outside and it has rained quite heavily over the past few days.

Thanks.wasn't sure if needed to access sat nav with a code. Will try reconnecting the battery in that case.failing that a visit to the dealers might be in order.

MD said its rare it works. SD003 reset is I fear your only option. Private or dealer purchase?

Ive have it ABS and suspension warnings, intermitten then continuous

Speaking to a Maserati master tech he said it definitely sounds like an ABS sensor fault which comes as part of a wheel hub. It's nothing to do with water in the boot.

It could just be a case that one has become unplugged, so that could be the first thing to check, you have one on each wheel so 4 in total.

Failing the connections, one of the ABS sensors/Wheel hubs could be faulty

They are in short supply at the moment and Maserati don't have stock.

They are £740.40.

Hello,

Get the ABS sensors looked at, I have had the same problem twice and both times it was a faulty ABS/wheel hub sensor, first it was the back LHS then the front LHS (kerb side) only a 1000 miles or less between them. Shop around for the part, try Meridian and get an indy to fit.

and ps. when you do get the part, it's trivial to swap -- it's nearly as easy as changing a wheel.
