GranTurismo fuel flap not opening

Hi Guys,

My car has been with Maranello in Egham for the last 7 weeks as someone managed to somehow drive into the back of me in standstill traffic last month  The garage replaced my rear bumper and my car was ready for collection this week.

After collecting my car I needed to refuel and at this point I realised that the fuel flap wasn't working at all. I've not had any previous issues with this so I'm wondering if anything could have been disconnected from whilst my car was in for repair? I went straight back to the garage and they immediately got their back up when I mentioned this fault wasn't apparent when I left my car with them 7 weeks ago. As a short term solution they've shown me the release cord in the boot to use until they take my car back in (hopefully next week).

Back to the issue, when the fuel flap button is pressed in the car there's no noise. Has anyone encountered this before and is there anything that the garage could have done to attribute to this now not working?

On another note, this is the 1st time dealing with Maranello and I've found their service completely shocking.

- I had to constantly chase them for an update on my car whilst it was in the shop being repaired
- I asked them to look at a coolant leak (which I paid an hour labour for) they identified it, asked if I wanted to fix it which I said to hold off on for the moment. I called them days later and they said they've fixed it without notifying me and then tried to charge me for this.
- Some of the people I've been dealing with have been pretty rude and unresponsive

I'm pretty disappointed in all of this and I definitely won't be taking my car here for any future repairs or service.

Cheers,
Jason

Main Dealers... would not trust them to put the toilet seat down.

Have you checked the fuses for the fuel flap.

This is really disappointing to hear.
You pay inflated prices so they should treat you well.
Lets face it - with the amount you lose on Maseratis in depreciation and how much it costs at a main dealers to do repairs/ labour - they should be giving you constant updates and a back and neck massage...

Friend of mine has what I can only describe as a BMW 5 series banger. I mean, it's OK, but it's well over 10 years old.

Took it to a dealer this week for its MOT. Free coffee and full inside and out wash / wax / clean.

He was rather surprised when I said that I rather doubted I'd get that at my nearest MD

I've used Maranello in the past, and going back a few years they were fine. But more recently they've disappointed me, with the inevitable "we can't hear that noise / find any fault / ..." even though I and everyone in the car can etc..., weren't pro-active in chasing me and so on. I've now switched to using Bodytechnics in Slough, knowing someone who works there. They're owned by HR Owen, but appear to be more geared to specialist type cars a few years older, rather than your more or less new main dealer approach.

I have had this happen once, I replaced the solenoid on the fuel release, and from memory, it was about £40, a rare bargain from maserati.

Thanks for your response, I'll check out the fuse and solenoid 1st. If it is the solenoid is this something that I could replace my self?

I was really surprised, the service I used to get from audi was a million miles apart from this. I guess it's a learning curve for me, it's really put me off from using them!!

I felt like they had no interest at all in my car as it was older. Thanks for the heads up on Bodytechnics, I'll have to give them a shout in the future.
