Hello all,

Really struggling to install a new air filter!

Is there a trick to this? I tried all sorts of lubes but the filter still keeps popping off.

So was thinking take the air box off and fit it on the bench rather than hands and knees, so has anyone had the airbox off without too much work?

Thanks for the thoughts.

On the positive changed the gearbox / diff oil and cleaned the filter, has pretty dirty so glad I did that.

Also got try boot to open on the key finally, had to strip it all out and leave the lock barrel in WD40 for a few hour.

Had a great blast afterwards as reward - these are awesome machines, especially on damp roads.

4200 air of removal requires removal of the front bumper so to be avoided unless you have the bumper off for a respray etc. it is just too big to rotate in any direction to get the snorkel part out of the wing and the intake out of the Bottom of the bumper. Best bet is to jack it up, remove the n/s front wheel, the inner arch and have a clear run at your filter replacement.

Or wait a few months for the induction kit to become available:)

The box is really poorly made and the lugs retaining the nuts are useless. You may be able to pack under the filter. I had a couple of big 10mm cable ties around mine to hold the box together. The mounts are three in number and are regular M6 anti vibration ones that cost more to post. They will be perished for sure.

image.jpgThanks for the quick reply, yes had it on axle stands, under tray and wheel off etc but after spending what felt like an hour trying to fit a new one on ending up putting the old one back which incidentally wasn't too dirty.

The air box is also in poor shape which sounds common then.

So don't plan to remove the front bumper!

How far off is your induction kit and how much will you be talking?

All the best
