That is a surprise.
Wouldn't want that.
Explains why those that have fitted the FD DBWM to classico's (original software), say its too much.

Why a surprise? I thought that was the understood progress of the software, it got softer as the years wore on.

Also, I can't see how adding the DBW would be 'too much' on the early software. I could be wrong, but I don't think it made the shifts a percentage faster than they were, but simply said 'shift at this (i.e. faster map) speed at these rather lower engine parameters. So it should just give you the punch in the back shift at lower revs.

Ahh, yes. I see that could get a bit wearing in fact!

Yep upshifts. It's hard to explain but that's what it feels like to me. Also remember so-fast was short for soft-fast. They changed the way the cars shifted in response to people's complaints. They should of just told them to go buy an automatic. That being stated maybe when I get the new clutch in it will help me like it more, I doubt it, pretty sure it's the software. The Spyder felt like it was shifting with a sledge hammer when your foot was through the floor. Something I particularly appreciated understanding why it was doing it.

So the original hardware ECU CFC201 was non-sofast, and then could be flashed to sofast
I assume that from the change of hardware to ECU CFC231, all the software was sofast?

Indeed. I was playing passenger in Zep's GS this morning, and while his PIS has not been breathed on by the Voicey magic, the shift difference is as night and day. I'll happily stick with mine, and love the downshift. :D

I was surprised too. Chris's shift was crisper at lower speeds and lower revs, mine speeds up markedly when at 7k+ rpm and flat to the floor. It has made me sure I need to have the PIS massaged .

Craig - I have had the blip in up shifts once or twice, I thought it felt like it missed a gear or got momentarily confused. If it did it every time I can imagine it would be quite annoying.

My main objective in the flash was really flashing out the secondary O2's so that the CEL wouldn't come on after I gutted the Primary Cats.

Will the CEL trigger with only 1 set of cats gutted? I was always under the impression that one set of cats should be enough to keep the secondary lambda probes happy.

As Chris pointed out our omissions (emissions :) ) are different. But that being stated I'm not totally sure for you guys, I've not had the opportunity to tear apart a vehicle across the pond yet. I do know that you guys even have different time intervals for when CELs are set.

That being stated I'm pretty sure that if you have secondary O2's in your cars those are designed to monitor there as well. The wide band O2s or Primaries are for the most part what controls the fuel trims, etc. In the U.S. there are two sets of Secondary O2s one for each bank, if you gutted one cat the secondary O2 would surely pick that up here without question setting the CEL.

Yes ....... IIRC correctly you hold the down paddle for a few seconds after shifting gear. The indicator blinks and you are using that function.

As far as i know, this software, once upgraded, cannot get back, is that right? The only way is to exchange gearbox ecu?

Once they flash the ecu to the new software it's like switching to Windows 8.1 and wanting Windows 7 back you have to have the original files to flash it back to. If not you just have one of these :( . Yes I've even seen them sold on eBay from time to time with people specifically advertising that feature of the NCR (TCU) ( that it has non-so-fast programming) because people want it.

I was under the impression (quite possibly wrong) that it could not be downgraded even if you had the BIN.....
