GS Unable to start - Steering lock/ignition

Hi All, after some help again as the GS is having another of its characterful moments. When I try to turn the key in the ignition it's completely stuck and the steering lock is on giving roughly 1cm of travel in each direction from central. I've tried the standard approach of trying to turn/wiggle the steering wheel whilst turning the key and shouting profanities at it but without success, any ideas?

cheers

Different profanities?

Sounds like it's beginning to get worn. You *can* (in most cars) break the lock with a 'substantial' yoik on the wheel, but you may not want to do that. Do you have another key?

yeah considered breaking it as a last resort but can imagine that been expensive. yeah i've tried both keys and it's the same with both

The way these things work is the key pushes a woodruff type key up and out the way, I would do as Chris says and try another key but would sound like its worn.

You can remove the steering lock key though if you don't want to pay the onmilliondollars for a new part from Maserati.

Thanks, any idea how I'd remove the steering lock key?

Thats the ignition barrel from ES. So on current form I'd expect an MD to be cheaper, quicker and to send you the correct part.

In fact given that you want the right one (i.e. to fit your key) I expect you'd have to go MD anyway.
