GT-S service costs

My GT-S is fast approaching the 12.5k mark and will need a service. It's not yet 2 years old so I am assuming I need to have it serviced at a main dealer to keep the warranty going, especially as I intend to extend the dealer warranty once the original runs out.

Graypaul Nottingham are suggesting the cost will be fixed at £1395 inc vat and parts. Sounds reasonable to me, but would be interested to hear what you guys have to say on this? Was also intending to get a set of EBC Redstuff pads to replace the standard if worn. Any comments?

Check which service you are getting - some items are miles and some items are two year, difference is about £300 IIRC.

Pads seem to last a long time - think 30k - so change now if you wish but probably no need to.

It's a standard 12.5k service so mileage based rather than time.

What I want to avoid is getting there to pick the car up and the shop saying the pads would not have made it top the next service so we've changed them at £700 +

Price sounds about right. You should be able to get enough of a visual on the outer pad yourself to take a view.

PS All Granturismo services are meant to include tracking - worth checking.

Here you go, I got some estimates. Prices include VAT and most include picking the car up if you book enough in advance.

Top price is 12,500 and the bottom is the 24 month.

Mine will fall at the same time so I recon I will just pay the higher one.

Yeti, if you're in that area, you might want to check out Shiltech's (??sp).

Had mine serviced not long ago with GrayPaul, wasn't too expensive but I might give Shiltech a go next. From the web site they also covered warranty works as they're an approved indie.

Timely post from Yeti - my 2 year service unexpectedly came due this weekend at 21k, 2 years after the 12.5k service. The quotes from Supercarhub were better than I had expected, which is a relief. Good to see main dealers coming in with competitive quotes, too.

That screen shot is interesting. So out of six quotes, variance of over 40% for allegedly identical work? I am about to get similar quote for my QP S. Anyone have any experience with negotiating quotes down using the comparison site as evidence? The cynic in me says that you will get what you pay for....

As one of the quotes was from Sytner (Graypaul) I fully intend showing them this and seeing what they come up with. I'll keep you posted.

If you wave the cheapest price in front of any of them, they will match it.

I mean, £1k for some oil and some filters and the once over....easy money!

Blimey. If that's true, then the comparison site is doing a great job. However I still have a mental image of some workshop manager with my car ..."oi, Kevin, don't bother with that one too much mate, the guy knocked us down 400 quid, what does he expect ..."

Clearly this would never happen :)

1k might be ok whilst going through the warranty period.....but how can they justify it 5 yrs later...esp the oil and filters bit?

I spoke to the service manager at Graypaul and while oil and filters does sum it up quite well, it seems there are more than a couple of these, and they also change all the ancillary belts. Still seems steep though.

totally agree

8 litres shell helix 5w 40 Oil £68.00
Oil filter £28.00
spark plugs £72.00
auxillary belt £35.00
pollen filter £30.00
top up air con £20.00
check and top up fluids £35.00

Just under the £500 mark should be nearer the mark , if your keen and do it yourself then with discounts well under £300

Yeah, but they typically invoice you for twice the parts price......maybe not all but most
