GTS MC Shift vs Aston Martin Vantage Roadster

Hi Phil, :)

I still think the GTS MC-Shift or Stradale is a stunning car especially for the money. It has very little if any competition as a GT and can easily be a daily driver. But then this Vanquish has the oh so rare CF Lightweight Seats with 'Q' trim, and that V12 and full CF body and is drop dead gorgeous in its special paint so indeed the abacus was put to use.

Having also had a Vantage the choice between that and a GTS really comes down to what you are looking for. Both are great cars but one is really a sports car and the other really a GT (even if they can both crossover). So it really depends what side of the fence you want to fall on. I went Aston both times but it was close against the Vantage and came down to it being built down the road (and I got a factory tour etc and saw my car being built so it was just a bit more special) and I did not want to regret not buying an Aston having got the chance. But there is no bad choice here.

What a car John, cheers for the blast :D I enjoyed it.....

A mate of mine back in Somerset has just won a brand new V8 Vantage S from one of those lotto type things you see with Dolly Birds flogging the tickets for in Airports.
I always thought no one won how wrong I was.

Dave stop it! Go & buy it quick to take it off the market please. That is very nice....shame it's not a manual.

Really, I thought the manual had a clutch worse than a Masser, swiss cheese i think the comment was... does look good value tho..

I did 55k on mine and it still seemed fine. I know of another who put 70k miles on one.

Reversing, especially uphill, can cause wear as the gearing is so tall in reverse which leads to a tendency to slip it. The rest, IMO, is people not being able to drive a manual properly :)

All controls in the V8V are quite heavy, but that's something to be savoured these days.

Great cars. Not sure I'd pay 45k for an N400 though.

Are you nearly in the market for a new motor Dave? I might be looking at a CLS55 next week.

The speedshift clutch is totally different to the Maserati/Ferrari Cambio Corsa clutch set up.
I have fitted both and driven a few.
The AM set up is quite crude being derived from a Land Rover set up.
The gearbox almost identical and Italian.
In my opinion it works well and should be easier to get and cost less.

I owned a CLS55 in its day which I had tuned by DMS. 600bhp and I v maxed it at 206 mph. Great car and I also had a SL55 which was most likely the best GT tourer. Went across Europe a few times. I loved the 55 engine and the way it delivered the power.
