H&R lowering springs

Hello together,

I´m thinking to get the H&R Lowering springs for my Grancabrio.

Has anybody had them? I looked for pictures for cars fitted with them and the look is exactly what I´m looking for.

My only concers are the OEM schock absorbers. Of my BMW times I remember very well that after installing lowering springs the shock absorbers where pretty fast damaged and didn´t work well. The car was then bouncy and didn´t feel well anymore.

Has anybody made the same experience here?

And have you open all joints on the axles after installing them to prevent damaging the rubber joints? Or did you just change the springs and that´s all?

Faulkner Springs at Chichester make springs for every competition car and can assess rebound and resistance to give you the perfect set up. Roughly £95 a corner and excellent quality.

I need some which have TÜV certification here in germany. But thank you for offering and pointing in another direction.

What about the other points?

Hi,

I’ve had and driven both the Faulkner springs mentioned above by BJL and the H&R springs and neither required any extra work. Given the limited mileage then it’s difficult to answer your question about the shocks, but I’m not aware of any issues with accelerated wear and tear when I did my research.

The handling remains very compliant albeit the car rides slightly firmer. My one warning would be that the front end of the car will sit quite low, so you run the risk of catching the front bumper much more easily.

Hope this helps
Jules

With the standard suspension on the gran turismo you need to be careful going over speed bumps.
