Odd, seems about 90/10, 10% of the time I get in my DD QP5 and the brake pedal is rock hard. My drive has a slight incline maybe 5%, it's no issue as as soon as I fire up vacuum is restored but do I have a leak you think?

So it is hard only 10% of mornings?

There are a few potential causes, how long the car has been standing, whether other vacuum devices have been operated. Even if you pressed the brake pedal a couple of times after switching off. On my BMW for example, you can get a couple of applications before the assistance drops off, but it is always unassisted until start up in the mornings.

It's my daily driver, can be next morning and I have a hard one, sometimes all weekend and no hard one. Can't fathom it. Might get garage to take a look.....

Well I hope they find the problem and it is an easy fix. Given it’s random nature I don’t think you have a leak as it would be hard every time.

Right, I’m following Lifes2short over to the tits... :auto20:

Does the 'gear engaged' bit after you switch off use vacuum? Or the hill hold thingy?

There’ll be a one way valve at the servo end of the vacuum line that will stop anything like that having an effect. Plus things that use vacuum will only be things you use when the engine is running

I don’t think so, but the exhaust valves will as will the EGR valves and a few other bits.
