Something I've never experienced before riding bikes is the number of knob heads the car attracts. On three seperate occasions on the same day I was tailgated for miles by imbeciles who I assume wanted to race or to make some point. I slowed down to let them overtake but each time they just backed off until I sped up and then just hooked on again sometimes frighteningly close. I take it it's not just me?

No sorry, not happened to me yet. Perhaps the noise mine generates precludes such frivolities.

I did have one knobber do this recently, what's laughable is the have a go heros in two lane traffic light scenarios. In which version of reality do you think your Peugot 307 can do a Maserati... really?

Let them get on with it/ignore them. They know and you know that your car will completely annihilate their crappy little eurobox.

I had a green Skoda hatchback try to 'race' me off a set of lights last weekend. He did a massive smoking wheelspin and looked like a twat, I pulled away gently and ignored him. I'm sure he will still have told all his chav mates how he beat a Maserati in a race!

I had two young looking chavs in a Focus right on my rear bumper for a couple of miles, I had to stop at some lights and there they were again, almost breaking their necks to get a look at the car.Lights changed to green and I pulled away slowly then accelerated up the duel carriageway doing quite a speed.Next roundabout they catch me up and are are still on my rear bumper, the road changes to 30mph, just as I think I'm stuck with them I see their Blue lights come on, I'd been racing a police car :saifi:."Quite a speed you were doing back there Sir" was their opening line, I apologised and told them I often get young kids in Corsa's and Focus trying to race me and tailgating. They seen my point and acknowledged that I had slowed right down when I came into the 30 zone, and then started asking loads of questions about the car.

Oops! Sounds like a blooody close call, Lofty.

So far the attention I've had has been positive. and luckily no one trying to race. Mainly it's thumbs up and windows dropped to listen to it. I think in Ian's case people are more likely to close the windows and use ear-plugs, to stop their ears from bleeding.

The first car was some old bloke in a Granada or similar! I'm twice shy with the outrunning thing having not got off quite so lightly as Lofty whilst on the bikes. I look forward to seeing if it was a one off. Car's been back at the dealer since Wednesday.

Light touch policing good to see

Yes I was quite relieved, I'd put my foot down to get away from them on a clear, straight duel carriageway, but I wasn't going to drive like a looney in a 30, they appreciated the fact and let me on my way, first time in 27years that I've been stopped for speeding, so I'm a good boy, honest.A young lad rolled into the back of my R8 'trying to get a better look' luckily no damage (he was very relieved). Loved that car, but got a little too much attention.

Nothing serious I hope!
Mine needs to go in as the speedo has a mind of its own and the indicator stalk sticks, I'm hoping my dealer has his lovely blue sport available as a loaner.

I was followed recently by a rover 200 all blinged up with spoilers and big alloys, blue lights etc. He followed me off the motorway 6ft from my back end all the way and carried on until i got to an island, i was following an SL63 an it was wet, we barreled around the island and so did he but i guess his suspension was as **** as his car, all i saw was him getting a tank slapper and hitting a sign post, allbeit slowly.

Ive never had this on the bike, but very regularly in the fez, but i think they get close for kids to look, and take pictures which does put me off as i think im going through speed cameras!

I always have time to talk to people if they ask about the cars tho..i think its a privilege to own them.

Wonder if its indicative to the British isles?
Have been driving TVR's for years and you learn to ignore the type of limited intelligence motorist that seem to take great pleasure it this kind of gladiatorial chariot racing.
Never had this problem in Europe, they just want to take pics and ask about the car.
Hope to get the GT to Europe this year if I get the time.

I think you might be right. The only time in Europe I have had it in Italy, near Naples, where their only goal seemed to be in front and once there they'd slow down.

My GT's off to France this year for a couple of weeks, really looking forward to it.

I think thats the Italian driving style. That will be nice once you get through the middle no-mans land section.
I'll see if I can get the GT down to Italy, take it home.
