Hey all,
Drove 700 miles yesterday all the way to Morzine and noticed passenger side headlight wasn't working. I had a message on the dashboard earlier on in the day saying Adaptive Lightning unavailable! would these two issues be related?

can some advice if i need to check any fuses, correct replacement build and if access to the bulb similar to 4200?

Thanks in advance

Edit: forgot to mention its a 2009 GTS

Krishna, they are related yes.

What I would suggest is that the bulb or the ballast resistor has gone but it might be an idea to have a dig round in the wiring as I know your car has had, shall we say, some hands in there in the past.

You could try swapping the bulbs over between headlights to see if its the bulb or the light uint/ballast resistor.

When handling bulbs make sure you have gloves on, or make sure you dont touch the glass part.

AND MAKE SURE THE BALAST IS DISCHARGED! !!! Or you will get one heck of a shock!

Let me know what ballast is in there , I probably have a load of them at work. It will probably be Osram or Tridonic

Generic ballasts and bulbs have been used in the past and work just fine on the 4200. Hopefully it'll be the same on the GT

ps. can't hurt to check the connector first – mine's flaky and often wiggling/reseating it improves things.

Quick update...

Took it to a local garage who managed to source a bulb. Unfortunately it's not the bulb that's blown and they don't have a balast to test! Called giallo cars and matthew advised it's a common problem where water gets into the headlight housing and blows the controller unit. will need to replace complete headlight assembly!

Looks like French drivers are going to love me for driving on high beams :)

I'd call BS on that. the "computer" modules are a dime a dozen on eBay and replace with literally 2 screws.

Yes I had the same issue Peavey and it needs a new headlamp. Lube up mate as it's over a grand fitted.

Hi Phil,
Mine started working again. Car was left in the garage for a week and it fixed itself.
