Heated rear window aerial

I think my aerial is in the rear window. The heater element doesn't work fully and my radio reception is ****, can I fix it?

Yes, the aerial is in the rear window. It runs from behind the dash, up behind one of the pillars, under the roof lining until it reaches the window. So it's quiet an undertaking to check on all of the wiring but if you inspect the HRW metal and see some obvious gaps, there is a paint on repair material available which MAY fix the heating element and/or the aerial.
Saying that, my HRW works but my aerial doesn't so I think I shall be going for a discreet under dash active aerial.

Check the contact points at either edge of the heating element the bonding from the wires to the glass comes away.
