Hello! Considering Maserati Quattroporte.

Just registered as we are considering adding a Maserati Quattroporte (post 2007, of course, Executive ideally) to our small fleet. We feel we need to get this out of our system as my wife has wanted one since she drove one around Monza in the 1980's. We could do with another four door car in the fleet and are, at present, lacking a v8.

Any tips would be welcome.

Welcome to the forum! Plenty of help and advice from owners and enthusiasts here, plus some very well respected dealers who may help you find the right car for you.

Lovely car, utter bargain, so go for it. Executive version the least popular, so hardest to find. Better to concentrate on finding the best car for your budget, rather than just one version. If I was looking for a 2007 model, I'd go for a GTS (though that will cost more than an Exec version).

A big warm welcome to the forum. QP is one of the best Maserati's of recent years as far as I'm concerned. You will not go far wrong... Ask away with any questions as there is plenty of knowledge on here.

welcome aboard and congratulations on choosing such a fine car.
Assume you selected 2007 on to get the full auto gearbox? These are considered an improvement in reliability and maintenance cost, but do of course cost more. Same can be said for the change from dry sump to wet sump engines too.

Might be worth trying an earlier one just in case. The money saved would pay for a new clutch, and you have a much bigger choice of colours and specification including the executive GT.

A fine choice, but why an Executive in particular?

There are plenty of cars with virtually the same spec as an Exec GT anyway - I'd go for condition over the exact model every time. That said, I wanted wood trim, not carbon fibre, which I don't feel suits the car, so an Exec GT was top of my list. My opinion only, and I know some people really like the carbon trim. The DuoSelect box works well, but is clunky in traffic. If you sit in traffic every day, it would be a bit of a drag, and in that case the full auto probably makes a better choice.

I'm not planning to get rid of mine anytime soon... :)

Thanks everyone. I chose the exec level because I like the tables and window screens in the back (features of the exec model I think). This is to be a regularly used car but not necessarily every day. Used for going out to dinner or any social outings with friends not suitable to take the Rolls-Royce out for.

Certainly want the later auto system.

What makes a GTS?

Ready to learn.

The tables look nice, but of course are useless. The side and rear window screens work well - a nicely engineered touch.

The rear seats are apparently an awfully pleasant place to sit; haven't actually been there while the car is moving though :)

The GTS is the sportier version - faster, stiffer, etc. probably not what you are looking for though. But even the Exec is sporty by saloon standards, and if you really want to sit in the back and be wafted too and from the opera, you'd be much better off in the Rolls or the S class Merc. The QP is the big car for the enthusiastic driver.

I believe Zep has some experience in this matter. Might be worth the OP PMing him for a first hand review? ;)

The GTS is regarded as the best of the QP range by the press..........But all are great drivers cars.

This may help you understand what you understand the dufference in spec between standard, Exec GT and SPort GT...........Sport GTS isn't on there but its a more sporty set up than the others, different exhaust, black window surround along with exhaust pipes, etc....

Yes, that's true. He spent some time crayoning in the back at some considerable speed on the Modena trip. He did mention the massaging seats, more than once...

EnzoMC did too, on the Cremona trip, but without the crayons.

That is a nice looking car and it's been for sale for ages so a deal to be done I would say.

HI
A bit slow in responding to this thread - apologies
I have a 2007 QP Exec GT - Auto box. It is a fantastic piece of engineering and a real pleasure to drive
The Auto box is fine and there is always the option to slip it into manual mode - or hit the Sport button which has an instantaneous effect. The picnic tables are a nice touch but tbh pretty useless unless children have lap tops etc. There probably is no spare wheel just a pot of glue for a puncture fix - which I am not chuffed about
The tool kit is a joke.
It is still a fabulous car and you will not regret a purchase - but check service history variators are expensive about £4000 from Maserati
