Hi, anyone got a spare set i can borrow / buy even for a week :)

I had my garage send mine off to Belfast brakes whiles on holiday, and they have gone on holidays for 2 weeks
so will be stuck without a car on my return :( hence the urgency.

Sorry, cant help. There were the odd set floating about maybe someone else can help.

Remember the shoes are different through out the model ranges. All I know is GS and 3200 are completely different.

you could always drive it without the handbrake?

I was in your situation and did consider it, but it was the handbrake cable flapping around inside the drum I did not like so never did it.

Maybe if your garage can remove it and tie it all up out of the way you could get away with it. I mean, we all know the handbrake is useless and putting it in gear is the best way anyway.

Let me know how you get on.

You could always try and ring David Askew, he may have a used set lying about , should't think he sells any used ones

Hi Loz, i have asked him the question (via email).

I was going to ask if it feasible to run without the shoes, sounds as if it is so may be a good option, as the hand brake was useless at the moment anyhow :)

You could always try James Pumo at Eurospares for some used ones, they still have the remains of a few that they have broken

I ran mine without shoes for a couple of days after having broken a piece of the spreader mechanism trying to fit the new shoes. Had to order from Eurospares and needed the car in the meantime. You'd need to remove all of the spreader mechanism so that there's nothing to catch, and also tighten the cable to keep it out of the way, but both are simple jobs. Park in gear and avoid hill starts! :D

Thanks

think i will be going with this approach. Dont have many hills to contend with so should be fine for a week.

I ran mine for a week or so with no hand brake when I manglified the spreader mechanism (just like Miles!) when I moved the car back a couple of feet with no shoes in... So you must unhook the spreader assembly then there is no problem...

I even have a steep sloped driveway and just trained the kids to run out an put bricks under the wheels whenever I arrived home!

Incidentally the spreader part is readiuly available from main dealer and was about £15 I think.
