Help with storage and or insurance

Hi everyone.....I seem to have an issue on my hands. Wondering if anyone here has any contacts or knowledge...

I have just purchased a classic car from a chap down South...towards Southampton. Car is in a secure storage facility. The intention was I would simply keep it there until I was ready to ship it to Australia in 4 months time. Now that I have purchased the car, the storage facility is kind enough to tell me that I need insurance. A slight hiccup - not only because the first they tell me of this is after I have done the deal (and I have spoken with the storage facility on a number of occasions), but because i would have hoped that the price I am paying includes their insurance, as indeed they do have insurance. (I'm at a loss to understand the purpose of their insurance...which they say covers their client's cars....if they then expect clients to double up with the insurance).

Here is where it gets tricky.....as an Australian resident, the first three companies I have contacted have all stated that they cannot provide insurance to a non-resident of the UK. These were Adrian Flux, HCI and Lancaster.

So either I find an insurance company who can provide me a policy despite being a non-UK resident...or I find a storage facility that does not require that I furnish my own insurance.

Does anyone have any knowledge or contacts (referrals) that may be of assistance to me?

Cheers,

Their insurance will cover instances where they have been negligent in caring for the car. It won't cover all eventualities.
Find a storage place that will add the car to their road risks policy. We cover customers cars for something like £1 extra a day (depending on the value).

Check what their current insurance does cover, as it may well be sufficient for you. But if it needs topping up, have them arrange it through their existing insurers, as you’ll (presumably) not be driving the car anyway.

Most likely you only need cover against damage/fire/theft at/from the storage facility, which I suspect they already provide.

But if you need to chat to a broker, try calling Pace Ward in Stoke on Trent.

thanks....will try Pace shortly. Just to clarify...the facility is demanding i have my own policy, so in a sense its a moot point whether or not their policy covers me adequately. they also seem to expect comprehensive insurance, despite the fact that its unlikely to do more than turn over...!
